• The Mk 13 Mod 7 Will Be the Marines' New Sniper Rifle. Here Is What It Can Do.

The Marine Corps plans on adopting the Mk 13 Mod 7 sniper rifle for Marine scout snipers, officials confirmed to Marine Corps Times on April 2, a much-needed and long-overdue replacement for the M40 system that Marines have wielded since the Vietnam War. Since the start of the Global War on Terror in 2001, the M40’s 1000-yard range has proved limiting for U.S. combat troops engaging militants in sprawling fightings in the mountains and desert of Afghanistan and Iraq. But according to Marine Corps Times, the Mk 13 “pushes beyond 1,000 yards” offered with a .300 Winchester Magnum round. That...

Jake Hamby a former Combat Camera dude/Aspiring Filmaker/Duel-Sport Enthusisast” working near Bashiqa, Iraq came across a captured ISIS .50 cal rifle. The gun was captured by Peshmerga forces while fighting against ISIS, located near the Mosul district of northern part of Iraq. This flintstone rifle was recovered by the Free Burma Ranger team. Viewing this rifle, its obviously a DIY .50 cal used for "sniping". See the rest of the Flintstone rifle here.

Former ‘Magnificent Bastards’ react to sniper rifle recovery June 21, 2006; Submitted on: 06/22/2006 03:34:58 AM ; Story ID#: 200662233458 By Gunnery Sgt. Mark Oliva, 1st Marine Division CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq (June 21, 2006) -- Call it a little bit of justice. Marine snipers from 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment shot and killed an insurgent sniper and spotter preparing to shoot at passing Marines, June 16. And the insurgents were going to use a stolen Marine sniper rifle for the attack. That rifle – an M-40A1 – belonged to the “Magnificent Bastards” of 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, a battalion...

If I gave you $7,000 to spend on whatever you wanted, what would you buy? Seven thousand dollars may not be a huge sum of money, but it is still a significant chunk of change. I mean, you could buy a car, pay your room and board at EMU for the year, or have 70% of the buy-in for the World Series of Poker main event. The list is almost endless, but there is one item in particular that really struck me as surprising when I learned that my gift money could purchase it. It is the Barrett M82A1 sniper...

The lowly .22 caliber long rifle round is becoming a favorite among snipers. Professional assassins (usually thugs working for organized crime) have long favored using .22 caliber (5.56mm) pistols for their work. While not a powerful round, if you shoot someone up close with a .22 caliber pistol several things are noted. 1- The victim is dead if you shoot him in the head, whish is what pros usually aim for (as these guys like to say, "two in the head and you know he's dead.") 2- There is hardly any sound if you use a silencer, and not much...

The firearm is often referred to as a civilian version of the military's M-16. The federal warrant issued against John Allen Muhammad identified the specific model as an A-35, XM15 E2S.

The gas-operated weapon is about 343/4 inches long, and it weighs 7.74 pounds without the standard 10-round magazine that Bushmaster supplies with each model.
