The MK22 Mod 0 can be changed to fire three different calibers..
U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command has achieved Fully Operational Capability (FOC) for the MRAD MK 22 Mod 0 Advanced Sniper Rifle (ASR) a year ahead of schedule. The MK 22 represents the culmination of Barrett’s dedication to innovation and collaboration with the Department of Defense.
Originally developed through a Special Operations Command contract, the MK 22 transitioned to the Marine Corps via the “Special Operations Forces to service” process, with contracting led by the U.S. Army. The seamless interservice cooperation enabled the Marine Corps to achieve FOC a full year ahead of schedule, delivering critical capability enhancements to warfighters sooner.
“The MK 22 isn’t just another rifle; it’s a modular, mission-adaptable system that empowers the warfighter with unmatched precision and flexibility,” said Bryan James, CEO of Barrett. “We’re honored to contribute to this pivotal modernization effort for the U.S. Military and Marine Corps, and to support our nation’s elite forces.”
The MK 22 features caliber-conversion kits allowing for seamless transitions between 7.62 mm NATO, .300 Norma Mag. and .338 Norma Mag. The adaptability enhances the ability to engage targets with precision at extended ranges. Paired with the state-of-the-art M317 Precision Day Optic—a variable-power optic providing a 7-35X magnification—the MK 22 delivers a significant leap forward in capability over legacy sniper systems.
Barrett designed the MK 22 to be a complete system, providing soldiers with an integrated solution tailored for operational efficiency. Each rifle kit includes three barrels, a hard and soft carrying case, 15 magazines, a cleaning and tool kit, a suppressor, optic with scope mount, and mission-specific components such as a scout sniper tripod kit and anti-reflection device.
“The MK 22 consolidates what was previously two rifles into a single platform, lightening the Marine’s load while improving logistical efficiency,” James said. “The ability to conduct caliber conversions in the field ensures that Marines are equipped for any mission, anytime, anywhere.”
Another key advantage of the MK 22 is its sustainability. Maintenance is streamlined, with most repairs now performed at the organizational level. In the rare event of a barrel failure, the rifle can quickly be reconfigured to a different caliber, ensuring continuous operational readiness—an improvement that was unattainable with previous systems.
“At Barrett Firearms, we are committed to equipping our armed forces with the tools they need to succeed in an ever-changing battlefield,” added James. “The MK 22 Mod 0 Advanced Sniper Rifle exemplifies our dedication to precision, innovation, and mission success. As the Marine Corps ushers in this new era of sniper capabilities, Barrett stands ready to support their efforts and the future fight.”
If it ain’t in .45-70 they’re not serious.
Amen Brother. 😆
I want one. I want it bad.
.45-70 is too short ranged.
Barrett will cheerfully sell you a Mil-spec one through your local dealer: https://barrett.net/products/firearms/mrad-mk22/
Any reports on the zero shifting around with all those barrels?
Quick change loses usefulness if you have to go re-zero the scope every time.
Enemy might disrupt your range time.
Sooner or later every complicated mechanical or electronic gizmo will fail under the duress of actual combat.
Elk would not stand a chance.
What’s the price?
What’s the price?

I can’t find the price. I did find a cute 1/4-scale replica on ebay:

.45-70 is too short ranged...........
Tell that to the guys who are hitting a 30” bull at 1 mile with black powder propelled 500+ grain bullets from iron sighted single shot Sharps and Winchester rifles.
From the size of it it’d make a neat tie clasp for my dad’s tie.
Except 1. .45-70 at spec is extremely slow moving at that point and cannot penetrate modern personal armor at ALL and 2. .300 Norma Mag is still supersonic to out over 4400 feet and can easily penetrate most battlefield armor.
Additionally, those guys who are hitting at over 5200 feet are lobbing them in on mortar trajectories because the .45-70 has dropped well over 50 inches by the time it’s out past 1500 feet. Not going to happen with a military scenario.
Thanks to the magic of CNC, once the rig is set up, no loss of zero, only have to allow for different bullet drop.
They’re getting the MRAD with all three barrels and a kit. More than half of the money is going for the optic. Considering that an MRAD that can only do one caliber retails for almost $6K...
