NATIONWIDE — The FDA says it’s launching an investigation after a euthanasia drug was found in cans of dog food. Washington, D.C. TV station WJLA partnered with the lab Ellipse Analytics to test multiple brands of wet dog food for the drug used to assist death in vet clinics, pentobarbital. In total, they tested 62 samples of more than two-dozen brands. One brand, Gravy Train, repeatedly came back positive for pentobarbital, according to the station. Out of the 15 cans tested, nine tested positive — or 60 percent. Gravy Train, made by Big Heart Pet Foods, is owned by Smucker’s....

During her lengthy career in advertising, Wyse raised the glass ceiling for other working women while counseling clients from American Express to Revlon to one-time Cleveland Mayor Carl Stokes. She created the advertising slogan that propelled Smucker's from a...

Three federal judges yesterday questioned whether the method for creating a crustless, peanut butter and jelly sandwich is unique. The hearing, at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, was the latest round in J.M. Smucker Co.'s attempt to expand its patent on Uncrustables, frozen, disk-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that have been among the Orrville, Ohio, jam-maker's most successful products. The three judges explored the difference between bread that is "smushed" versus "compressed," and pondered the idea of jelly "encapsulated" in peanut butter. One even questioned whether his wife violated Smucker's patent when she made lunch...
