Monday, Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings said that Stephanie Sloop’s request for an annulment from husband Nathan will have no affect on their murder case against the couple for the death of 4-year-old Ethan Stacy. "It will not hurt our case nor are we considering any changes," Rawlings said. "This is a very predictable move by Mary Corporon," reported the Standard-Examiner. Mary Corporon is Stephanie Sloop’s public defender, and most likely advised Stephanie to file for the annulment from her husband to disassociate herself from Nathan. LAYTON, Utah (AP) - The body of a boy who matches the description of a missing 4-year-old child has been found in a Utah canyon and his mother and stepfather are in custody, police said Tuesday. Layton police said Ethan Stacy's stepfather, Nathan Sloop, 31, will be charged with aggravated homicide. His mother, Stephanie Sloop, 27, will be charged with felony child abuse. Both will face obstruction of justice and desecration of corpse charges. Amid confusion of a new Seminole County Courthouse, 11 citizens were directed to sit in the wrong courtroom to respond to traffic citations. Next door in an adjoining courtroom, an angry Judge John Sloop signed warrants for their arrest for failing to show.
