Monday, Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings said that Stephanie Sloops request for an annulment from husband Nathan will have no affect on their murder case against the couple for the death of 4-year-old Ethan Stacy.
"It will not hurt our case nor are we considering any changes," Rawlings said. "This is a very predictable move by Mary Corporon," reported the Standard-Examiner.
Mary Corporon is Stephanie Sloops public defender, and most likely advised Stephanie to file for the annulment from her husband to disassociate herself from Nathan. Both Stephanie and Nathan have been charged with aggravated murder for Stephanies son, Ethan Stacy. Stephanie is now claiming that she married Nathan involuntarily.

The bottom line is that the little's boy's "mother" is a druggie and whore, and the judge in her divorce case granted her summer custody against Joe Stacy's protests. The woman hooked up with this Nathan Sloop scumbag out in Utah, and little Ethan was sent out to stay with them involuntarily in late May. A week later, Sloop beat and severely scalded the boy, and he and "mom" left him alone in a locked room to die while they went out, got married, and partied.
Utah justice can't come quickly enough for these two animals.
Put the judge on trial as an accessory.
Heartbreaking——there is no earthly punishment harsh enough for this woman. We will just have to leave it to God’s judgement. At least the child is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
That ain't gonna fly...
And yeah, the judge clearly has the boy's blood on her hands...
Ethan Stacy Murder: Divorce Settlement Apparently Put 4-Year-Old in Danger
The divorce settlement was approved by Judge Maura T. Smith of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Orlando. Smith said Thursday the divorce was a "cut-and-dried" uncontested settlement.
She said she had not read Joe Stacy's initial petition and simply approved the final divorce and custody agreement. Ethan's father appeared alone April 28 for the 10-minute hearing, one of hundreds of divorce cases the court handles a week, Smith told The Associated Press.
Wow. Pure evil.
What a nightmare for Joe Stacy. But I have to wonder why he didn’t adamantly refuse to send Ethan to the mother? If I thought my child was in danger, I would not send him. I would even send him to relatives and claim he ran away if I thought the situation warranted it.
But I’ve never been divorced and had to deal with custody arrangements so maybe it’s not that simple.
Joe would likely have faced a kidnapping charge and potentially had his custody rights revoked had he not released the child to the mother’s custody on time. Divorce/family court is a nightmare for fathers.
“Put the judge on trial as an accessory.”
And execute all three the way this poor child was murdered.
Not so much. IF the custodial parent has reason to believe that the child will be endangered, they, the custodial parent, can make the BIG DECISION to go against the FOC rulings and keep their child from the other parent. Or, they can make the other parent do supervised visits. As someone always says, “it’s easier to ask forgiveness than get permission.”
If a custodial parent can show that they were acting in the best interest of the child (the non-custodial shows up to get the kid, drunk as a skunk....are you REALLY gonna put your kid in a car with her/him?) they usually have very little trouble from the courts. It’s called common sense. Of course, if there’s vindictiveness or spite involved, there will be trouble. But, if all the grown-ups could just keep this saying “the best interests of the child” forefront in their mind, life would be a lot easier for a lot of kids.
BREAKING NEWS: Nathan Sloop pleads guilty to killing Ethan Stacy
Accused child-killer Nathan Sloop pleaded guilty but mentally ill to the murder of 4-year-old Ethan Stacy, in a deal that spared him the death penalty.
Sloop pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the death of his stepson, and aggravated assault in a separate case involving a jailhouse attack on a deputy. In exchange, Davis County prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty.
Ethan Stacys father, Joe Stacy, was in the courtroom and prosecutors said he accepts the resolution. Sloop faces 25-years-to-life in prison when he is sentenced.
Ethan Stacy died in May 2010. His body was found in a shallow grave near Powder Mountain Resort.
