ROME (Reuters) - A British passenger plane described as belonging to low-cost airline Excel has been diverted to the southern Italian airport of Brindisi because of a bomb scare, the Italian news agency Ansa reported on Friday. Ansa said the plane, a Boeing 767, was on route from Gatwick airport near London to Egypt when the pilot asked to land at Brindisi. But local police in Brindisi told Reuters they could not confirm it was because of a suspected bomb on board.
