National Public Radio must have noticed that lots of people on the right are calling for their federal funding to be cut because they recently decided to reach out to Greg Gutfeld of FOX News for an interview. Greg’s humor comes through in the segment but not for the NPR square who is interviewing him. In fact, one of the funniest aspects of the interview is the interviewer not getting Greg’s brand of humor at all. At one point, he plays a segment of the Gutfeld! show where Greg makes a joke, then follows up by saying “a racist would...

In the July 18 edition of Gold Newsletter, editor and publisher Brien Lundin wrote about the failure of silver prices to keep up with gold prices. "I'm not the kind of conspiracy buff that many of my friends in the industry are," Lundin wrote, "but it's hard to look at silver and not see some hidden hands at work (especially considering who holds so much of the metal in both physical and paper forms while acting as custodian for the biggest silver exchange-traded fund)." Of course, Lundin meant investment bank JPMorgan Chase and silver ETF SLV. Why anyone would invest...

A senior CIA official this week said Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is "absolutely wrong" to oppose placing all components of the intelligence community -- including those now under the authority of the Pentagon -- under the centralized control of the director of central intelligence. James Simon, assistant director of central intelligence for administration, said he supports a recommendation advanced by retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Brent Scowcroft, head of the president's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, to transfer the National Security Agency, National Imagery and Mapping Agency, and National Reconnaissance Office from the purview of DOD to direct DCI control. "Brent...

Palo Alto, California, administrators have exempted a celebrity chef’s restaurant from the city’s sweeping gas stove ban. Jose Andres’ newly planned restaurant, Zaytinya, is one of the latest Simon Property Group (SPG) buildings that received project approval in 2019, including for a a gas line, which the restaurant relies on, according to Palo Alto Online. The plan, however, changed when planning staff informed the company that due to the City Council’s revision of the building code, the restaurant was required to use electric stoves. Simon wrote a letter in April threatening the city council with a lawsuit if it maintained...

A U.S. Army officer says a squatter moved into her DeKalb County home while she was serving on active duty, and now she can’t have him evicted. She told Channel 2 Consumer Investigator Justin Gray that she found out when her real estate agent was making final preparations to sell the house. “He’s not a tenant. He’s a squatter,” Lt. Colonel Dahlia Daure said. There are ‘beware of dog’ signs in some windows and cardboard covering others at her Ellenwood home in DeKalb County. Daure says someone she’s never met moved in without her knowledge or permission, and now won’t...

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has finally moved to drop the controversial murder charge filed against bodega worker Jose Alba, his office confirmed Monday. The DA’s office said it had filed a motion in Manhattan Criminal Court to dismiss the case against the 61-year-old bodega worker after a investigation found they couldn’t prove the “defendant was not justified in his use of deadly physical force.” Bragg and his office had faced widespread backlash after Alba was swiftly charged with fatally stabbing 35-year-old violent ex-con, Austin Simon, who had attacked him inside the bodega on July 1. The decision to drop...

China’s most famous defector to America warned US intelligence agencies a coronavirus was spreading in Wuhan in November 2019 – six weeks before China admitted there was an outbreak. Wei Jingsheng, the father of China’s democracy movement, reveals in a new book, “What Really Happened in Wuhan,” that he first heard of a mysterious new virus at the time of the World Military Games in Wuhan in October 2019. Highly alarmed, the former Chinese Communist Party insider, whose defection to the United States in 1997 made global news, alerted intelligence agencies, a US politician with links to the president and...

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, outdoor gatherings with a friend or two have replaced the indoor dinner party. Many people have spent Friday night around a backyard fire pit or in lawn chairs parked on a sidewalk, pulling their masks on and off between sips of beer. Is this permitted under California's new stay-at-home order, now in place throughout Southern California and the Central Valley and adopted pre-emptively by six Bay Area jurisdictions — Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Francisco and the city of Berkeley? The answer is no, according to the state guidelines. Here's how Santa Clara County...

By the time you read this, Sidney Powell may have released her Kraken on America in the form of a filing about election events in Georgia. Until then, though, there is a healthy debate about whether Powell can make the case that Dominion and Smartmatic, both of which played a role in the disputed states, have Venezuela ties that prove their connection to American fraud. Roger L. Simon has entered the fray, detailing what two informants told him as background about these two companies and their ties to Venezuela.Writing at the Epoch Times, Simon, who tackles facts like a rigorous...

A former baggage handler who stole six guns and ammunition from checked luggage at Portland International Airport was sentenced Monday to six months in federal prison. After removing the guns, Deshawn Antonio Kelly then switched airline tags on the luggage he opened, sending them to different destinations. Two ended up out of the country, arriving in London and Mexico City, which delayed the owners’ reporting of the gun thefts. One of the victims was an out-of-state police officer; another was a gun dealer, according to police and prosecutors. Five of the six guns were recovered. Kelly turned over one of...

David Simon, creator of the HBO crime series “The Wire,” accidentally proved that President Trump’s tweets about West Baltimore being dangerous were correct when he said Trump would “wet himself” if he “actually visited West Baltimore for five minutes.” Like other liberals suffering from pathological Trump Derangement Syndrome, Simon accidentally dunked on himself yesterday while trying to dunk on Trump.

Red Double of the Second Class [Transferred from Sunday, 28 October.] INSTEAD OF THY FATHERS, sons are born to thee. Thus does the Church, disowned by Israel, extol in her chants the apostolic fruitfulness which resides in her till the end of time. Yesterday she was already filled with that loving hope which is never deceived, that the holy Apostles Simon and Jude would anticipate their solemnity by shedding blessings upon her. Such is the condition of her existence on earth, that she can remain here only as long as she continues to give children to our Lord; and...

I realize that John McCain was a long-time public servant who spent five years at the "Hanoi Hilton", was tortured, came back, was a longtime senator and two-time presidential candidate. And I realize that the shooting in Jacksonville at the gamer convention is an important story. But we also lost one of the American cultural icons today when Neil Simon passed at 91. (See below.) Can we not find a minute or two for this major figure in contemporary American culture? Are we THAT wrapped up in politics?

Playwright Neil Simon, a master of comedy whose laugh-filled hits such as "The Odd Couple," ''Barefoot in the Park" and his "Brighton Beach" trilogy dominated Broadway for decades, has died. He was 91. In the second half of the 20th century, Simon was the American theater's most successful and prolific playwright, often chronicling middle class issues and fears... His list of credits is staggering. The theater world quickly mourned his death, including Tony Award-winning actor and playwright Harvey Fierstein, who tweeted that Simon "could write a joke that would make you laugh, define the character, the situation, and even the...

An Indiana judge has taken an unusual step and temporarily barred Starbucks from closing 77 failing Teavana stores in Simon Property Group malls because the real estate giant was less able to handle the financial pain. Starbucks said in July it planned to shutter its 379-store Teavana operation — but Simon rushed to court to block 77 stores in its malls from going dark — claiming such a move by a high-profile tenant could spark other stores in its malls to close. Starbucks, after trying to turn around its stumbling tea chain, said last August it was pulling the plug...
