The Chosen Season 5 in theaters March 28
It’s Holy Week, the most impactful and famous week in human history. Jerusalem is a powder keg with all of Jesus’ followers, enemies, and over a million Passover pilgrims packed into one small place. He shows sides of Himself we’ve never seen till now—turning over tables, literally cracking the whip, and weeping with heartbreak but also love. He also confuses His followers at every turn...and to what end?
The takeaway for you from this season: Can you believe and follow even when you don’t understand?
Yes, it’s sad and heartbreaking because we’re getting closer to the cross, but we’re also going to get to see some of the most iconic and deeply moving moments from Scripture. The triumphal entry, the turning of the tables, the betrayal by Judas, and the Last Supper...all set against the biggest backdrop and sets we’ve ever used with a new widescreen format that demands to be seen on the big screen. But of course, we continue our obsession to humanize and authenticate everyone involved.
The table is set. I can’t wait for you to see this in theaters.
It will no doubt be watched by many of my friends and family.
It comes with closed captions on The Chosen app.
The subtitles are helpful. I have a several deaf friends / also many theaters have hearing devices for the blind that do scene descriptions.
I watched the first two seasons. They were very impressive. Then I started hearing about some theological issues that many have had with the series. I admit that I haven’t looked into those as I probably should, but it’s enough to make me cautious. So I’ll ask you, should I watch this again?
It is a TV show not a substitute for scripture. There are extra-Biblical narratives and story lines that contribute to the show and keeps the audience wondering what willl happen to those characters since they were created by Dallas Jenkins and his team and do not take away from the main Biblical narrative. So YES you should watch it and use it as teaching points
The lead doesn’t strike me as the Messiah who forgave from the cross.
?? The crucifixion is next season.
The Chosen is very well done. The actor who plays Jesus is phenomenal in it. I don’t want to see Jesus go through what he did go through, but it is part of it. Don’t know if I can but will watch.
Concur 👍
Jesus of Nazareth is the only one I watch.
thx for the post. i’ve been wondering...
I do watch it with elderly relatives who are hooked. but I try to point out as Dallas the creator has said more than once, it’s about 90+% non biblical.
It’s definitely a drama series that sucks you in, music, heavy on emotion, girl power/importance, extra characters, combination of biblical and non biblical events to the point of real confusion for anyone wanting to know about the Bible, or God, or Jesus.
It may get some people to open a bible and seek to know God, but for those who watch and don’t get into a bible, it’s leading people astray/delsusions about Jesus.
Same here. It’s a masterpiece.
I believe you hold the minority view.
My experience has been that many many discussions about the true and historical God/Man Jesus Christ have born much fruit !
Ephesians 2:8
I find it interesting that so many critics of the show seems to think that the non-Biblical characters such as Ramah and the storyline of Thomas and Ramah being a “thing” somehow turn people away from the Bible. I have had many conversations with fans who think that Ramah is in the Bible and actually go read their Bible to try and find it.
What an awesome conversation!! So they discover that Ramah was made up but Thomas and the other 11 guys that Jesus Discipled and ended up forming the early CHURCH are in fact historical real people.
I have never watched it. But once I saw a scene where I think it was Peter and Jesus discussing the sermon on the mount, and Jesus asking Peter his opinion, well, they lost me there. I will never watch this show.
TRENDING #4 on YouTube !
The scene you are referring to is Matthew and Jesus - the point was that Jesus connects with PEOPLE. He did not NEED Matthew to “help” Him. True —. But - Jesus does not “need” you and I to share the Gospel Message either. Yet, he CALLS every believer/follower/disciple to GO and Make more Disciples ! The great commission Matthew Chapter 28:19,20
