Behind the decision to conquer the Syrian Hermon - and the "Ring of Fire Vision" that collapsed. The decision to occupy the Syrian side of Mount Hermon was made unanimously by the cabinet • The ministers met, understood that the Assad regime had collapsed, and the IDF began to act • Senior figures in the defense establishment said: "Qassem Soleimani's vision of a ring of fire is collapsing. As soon as Iran's main smuggling route to Lebanon collapses, Hezbollah will be dramatically weakened" • In the months before Assad's fall: The defense establishment worked with the US and the UAE...

Published in the April 2024 issue of the Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology, the study examined tornadoes rated F/EF1 or stronger over two separate, 35-year periods (1951-1985 and 1986-2020) to look for changes in where these tornadoes formed. F/EF0 tornadoes were excluded to filter out the much greater number of these weakest tornadoes detected in recent years due to improved technology and more extensive National Weather Service damage surveys. What past decades looked like: From the mid-20th century until the mid 1980s, the map looked like the past version of the Plains "Tornado Alley" with peak activity from northern...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- MF Global, Jon Corzine's embattled securities firm, moved millions in missing client funds last week and tried to avoid detection, a regulator said Wednesday. MF apparently made "substantial transfers" of customer money after an on-site audit last week, said the regulator, CME Group Inc. CME is a private company that oversees firms such as MF Global on behalf of federal regulators. It also operates exchanges where MF Global traded investments. The money was moved in a way that "may have been designed to avoid detection," CME said in a statement. MF Global filed for bankruptcy protection Monday...

The magnitude 7.2 earthquake that gave San Diego County a long, hard shake on Easter Sunday shifted areas of the earth's crust up to 31 inches in Calexico, and by as much as 10 feet near the temblor's epicenter in northern Baja, says data released today by NASA. The Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR) data also suggests that there was some surface rupturing along the border of Imperial and San Diego counties, where lots of aftershock activity continues to occur almost three months after the mainshock. The new findings are largely based on an airborne radar mapping program...

Winds Of Change: North America's Wind Patterns Have Shifted Significantly In The Past 30,000 Years Science Daily — Dartmouth researchers have learned that the prevailing winds in the mid latitudes of North America, which now blow from the west, once blew from the east. They reached this conclusion by analyzing 14,000- to 30,000-year-old wood samples from areas in the mid-latitudes of North America (40-50°N), which represents the region north of Denver and Philadelphia and south of Winnipeg and Vancouver. The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE!
