GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The start of firearm deer season in Michigan is something many hunters look forward to all year, but new research shows that trekking into the woods could bring you closer to COVID-19 than you might expect. A study from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found COVID-19 antibodies in two-thirds of a white-tailed deer sample tested in Michigan. The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service took 113 samples from white-tailed deer between January 2020 and March 2021 and found that 67% of them had COVID-19 antibodies.

Longtime Democratic state Rep. Ryan Guillen of Rio Grande City is switching parties as Republicans press to make new inroads in South Texas and after redistricting made his district much more favorable to the GOP. Guillen was set to make the announcement Monday morning during a news conference in Floresville where he was joined by Gov. Greg Abbott and House Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont. "After much consideration and prayer with my family, I feel that my fiscally conservative, pro-business, and pro-life values are no longer in-step with the Democrat Party of today, and I am proudly running as a Republican...

Fox News Channel host Nancy Grace is facing a firestorm of controversy over a so-called “investigative” report that was actually a one-hour hit-piece on Kyle Rittenhouse. The 18-year-old on trial for shooting two rioters and seriously wounding a third. Video clearly shows Rittenhouse was defending himself from the rioters in all three of the attacks. “Can you have a teen vigilante out there looking for trouble? Is it either that or is it self-defense,” Grace said. “The question tonight is can both be true?” Throughout much of the program, Fox aired a chyron reading, “TEEN VIGILANTE GUNS DOWN THREE, HEADS...

    38. Fri. Nov. 12, 2021 Testimony, even from the opposing side, in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse proved the falsity of hundreds of media reports. Rittenhouse, who went to Wisconsin in August 2020 to protect storefronts and businesses being looted and burned by rioters, shot and killed two attackers during violent protests, and shot a third man. Media reports widely declared Rittenhouse, then 17-years old, to be a murderous white supremacist (although all three of the men shot were white and, according to evidence, had been attacking or pointing a loaded gun at Rittenhouse at the time). 37. Fri. Nov....

As the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse has progressed, Americans who hope for a successful conviction have begun to focus their attentions on the true villain of the piece: the 75-year-old presiding judge, Bruce Schroeder. Among the many accusations that have been leveled at Schroeder this week are that he is “biased,” that he is “prejudiced,” that he is a secret “conservative,” “right-winger,” or “Trumpist,” that he is a “a gun nut,” that he is a “a racist” or wannabe member of the Klan, that he is the “worst judge in town,” and that he is attempting to parlay this trial...

By now the left-wing agenda in schools is increasingly more evident. Incomprehensible writing of the lowest level is now the norm but with an additional twist -- students in the nursing field now spout such ideas as demonstrated in the following: Dear Professor, I do not understand [why] you took points off for using ‘their’ instead of his or hers. I used that specific word because I am not just referring to my one gender, regardless of whether it relates to one individual or more than one. I have been told to avoid gender biases. As a result, I disagree...

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- On day six of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial in Kenosha, Wisconsin, November 8, 2021, the court video captured a particularly dramatic moment.Gaige Grosskreutz has given testimony as a prosecution witness. He is being cross-examined by Corey Chirafisi, a defense attorney. It occurs about 2 hours and 27 minutes into this trial video on November 8, 2021. Over the next few minutes, there is this exchange:Defense attorney Corey Chirafisi:So, your hands are up, and at that point he (Rittenhouse) has not fired. Correct? Gaige Grosskreutz:No he has not. Defense attorney Corey Chirafisi:Do you agree at this point, you are...

Leftist prosecutors ignore actual criminals while prosecutors in Kenosha are railroading Kyle Rittenhouse and seeking to undermine the 2nd Amendment. America is suffering from a rash of prosecutors who are petty tyrants bent on fundamentally changing America by nullifying our duly enacted laws. That is as unconstitutional at the county and state level as it is at the federal level. Nothing illustrates this more clearly than the conduct of the prosecutors in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Prosecutors are part of the executive branch and it is their sworn duty to uphold all laws. They have no power to nullify laws...
  • Blue States, You’re the Problem. Why do states with Democratic majorities fail to live up to their values? (NYT)

It’s easy to blame the other side. And for many Democrats, it’s obvious that Republicans are thwarting progress toward a more equal society. But what happens when Republicans aren’t standing in the way? In many states — including California, New York and Illinois — Democrats control all the levers of power. They run the government. They write the laws. And as we explore in the video above, they often aren’t living up to their values. In key respects, many blue states are actually doing worse than red states. It is in the blue states where affordable housing is often hardest...

Editor's note: this piece was co-authored by Professor Carl Moody.Preface: Last Friday, the National Law Journal ran an op-ed by Lisa Vicens and John Donohue with many errors in it regarding a case that the U.S. Supreme Court heard last Wednesday on New York’s concealed handgun law. The article gave readers very inaccurate information on the academic research regarding the risk of crime by concealed handgun permit holders. This false claim of public safety is really all the state of New York has to base its case on. The left-leaning National Law Journal, a business partner with Michael Bloomberg, is...

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) tweeted a release Tuesday advising city residents to “cooperate and comply” when being robbed. The release begins: Due an increase in violent street robberies, Robbery-Homicide Division has become aware of an ongoing crime trend of follow-home robberies. Suspects have been locating victims in Los Angeles, following them, and then committing the robberies as the victim arrives home or at their business….These crimes have occurred throughout the City of Los Angles as well as neighboring cities. Judge Bruce Schroeder of the Kenosha County Court accused prosecutors of a “grave constitutional violation” in the murder trial of Kyle Rittenhouse on Wednesday morning after they tried to comment on his earlier reactions to testimony in the case. Rittenhouse stunned observers by taking the witness stand in his own defense, something that defendants rarely do in such trials. He recalled the events of Aug. 25 last year, when he fired on members of a mob attacking him during a Black Lives Matter riot. As he began to describe the events leading to the shootings, he broke down, and the...

An internal memo circulated to officers with the Chicago Police Department this week notified its force that "starting with the first watch Friday, regularly scheduled days off for all sworn personnel will be canceled." The memo continued, explaining that all personnel "will be attired in the prescribed regulation field uniform of the day, including helmet, baton and yellow safety vest." While the Chicago Police Department's notice to its rank-and-file made no mention of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial taking place some sixty miles to the north in Wisconsin, it's impossible to ignore the fact that the memo comes as prosecutors' attempts...

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Becky Sullivan of NPR makes a startling claim of fact, which is not in evidence from the trial or the criminal complaint. It is especially relevant because it is a claim about a crucial moment in the sequence of events where the apparent first aggressor, Joseph Rosenbaum, attacked Kyle Rittenhouse. Mr. Rosenbaum attempted to grab the barrel of the rifle Rittenhouse had pointed toward the ground between him and Rosenbaum. The relevant testimony is at 2:34:40 in the video of the trial. The rifle is pointed at the ground between Rittenhouse and Rosenbaum. Rosenbaum is first running, then lunging at...

The Las Vegas Raiders waived 2020 first-round pick Damon Arnette and have now cut ties with both first-round picks from that draft before the midpoint of their second season. General manager Mike Mayock called it a “painful decision” to release Arnette on Monday but said it was necessary in response to a social media post with Arnette brandishing a gun and threatening to kill someone. Arnette was drafted 19th overall with a pick acquired in the Khalil Mack trade despite what Mayock called “significant concerns” about his character. Arnette was rated lower on most draft rankings but the Raiders believed...

The Biden administration in just the past year alone stockpiled the records of more than 54 million U.S. gun owners and is poised to drastically alter gun regulations to ensure that information on Americans who own firearms ultimately ends up in the federal government's hands, according to internal Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The ATF in fiscal year 2021 processed 54.7 million out-of-business records, according to an internal ATF document obtained by the Gun Owners of America, a firearms advocacy group, and provided exclusively to the Free Beacon. When a licensed gun store...
