<p>SACRAMENTO (AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's sweeping workers' compensation bill could face its first test in the Legislature next week, but a key lawmaker doubts it will pass unless it's substantially amended.</p> <p>"If they don't amend it, I don't think it's going anywhere," Assemblyman Juan Vargas said Thursday. "I don't think it's a good bill. There's a lot of things damaging in there for workers."</p>

<p>SACRAMENTO – Republican Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger is shaping his administration with a mix of Democrats and moderate Republicans - dismaying some Republicans who sparked the recall against Gov. Gray Davis and who now see their influence dwindling in the new administration.</p>

As potentially embarrassing statements from Arnold Schwarzenegger's past have come to light, his campaign has developed an unusual standard defense: He made it up. Confronted with Schwarzenegger's own words on drug use, his early business practices, women and his immigration status, campaign aides — and the candidate himself — have disavowed many of the comments he has made during the last 30 years. In doing so, they have said that Schwarzenegger either exaggerated or erred in dozens of interviews he gave to promote his career and even in his 1977 autobiography.

<p>Sacramento -- He posed for nude photos. He skipped his father's funeral to attend a bodybuilding competition. He smoked pot. He killed nearly 300 people on film. Not to mention the alleged boorish behavior with women.</p> <p>Who could be a better candidate for California governor?</p>
