I'm more interested in what Arnold does rather than what he says. We'll know soon enough where his policy is headed. We'll get a glimpse of the broad contours in his inaugural address next week.

Republican Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger is shaping his administration with a mix of Democrats and moderate Republicans - dismaying some Republicans who sparked the recall against Gov. Gray Davis and who now see their influence dwindling in the new administration.

"Arnold sold himself to Republicans as being very similar to Pete Wilson, except on social issues, but he is substantially to the left of Pete Wilson."

Hahahaha. Gotta love it.

And let me see: these are the people who would be glad to have Gray Davis to kick around for three more years. What a swell bunch.

No surprises here. Arnold was always a California Republican ( see New York Republican for comparison ). He's never been conservative, never will.

And this only the pre-Honeymoon phase. ;-)

I agree. Let him get his feet wet first and let him take his best shots at the demRats that are going to fight him tooth and nail, regardless of what they have said to this point.

As for a party, to seize the reins of power and do nothing with it to advance its own causes would be a greater offense than if the demRats had retained the Gub's seat, imo.

The rats in the legislature and courts and their liberal agendas must be sent packing. We can't afford 'em and their tax and spendy ways.

Exactly. It's not who is carrying the water - its what the quarterback does that matters here.

Some Republicans, while privately unhappy about Democrats in the administration, remain supportive of Schwarzenegger, noting that his top appointments reflect greater political diversity than did his two immediate Republican predecessors, Wilson and George Deukmejian, both of whom had few Democrats in ranking positions. Wilson's top Democrat was education adviser Maureen Demarco; Deukmejian had none at that level.

And how many Republicans were among Davis' top advisors??

Look, folks, the real problem with having a Democrat in a position of real, policy making authority is that they'll be loyal to their party before anything, or anyone else. They will have an insiders view of Arnie's administration, and when they deem the time to be right, they will "pull the trigger". They'll either leak information to destroy Arnie and his Republican advisers, or they'll flat out join the campaign of the leading Democrat to replace him.

Since leftists have universally bought the philosophical idea that "all truth is relative", and therefore, all morals are also relative to your own system of "truth", they'll feel completely vindicated when they lie, cheat, steal, or worse, in behalf of their political party. (Yes, there may be Pubbies who are equally amoral, but it's the speciality domain of the left ... it's their guiding philosophy!).

I predict rocky days ahead for Arnie's administration. There will be leaks galore, there will be internal strife (always blamed on Republican advisors), and some of Arnie's "trusted advisors" will actively work with the Legislature to undermind every decision, policy goal, .. in short everything the new Governor intends to do.

He is a babe in the woods. The Gov. elect is simply naive to believe that he won't be betrayed by these folks, even as he (arguably) betrays his GOP supporters on key policy issues.

Veteran Republican consultant Ken Khachigian of San Clemente said it's too early to assess Schwarzenegger.

Let's give Arnold a fair opportunity to impliment his policy agenda before we jump all over him. After all, he hasn't even taken the oath of office yet. Only time will tell, whether he deserves scorn or praise. We shall see.

Another reason why foreign-born should not hold any elective office in the United States: failure to understand the culture and traditions of the host country.

Steve is just one member of the audit committee, not "doing his economic policy." Steve's the best. If he were "doing his economic policy," I'd be sleeping a lot better.
