With the announcement of Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., as Mitt Romney’s pick for vice president, the first question among GunVoters was where Ryan stands on gun issues. The fact that Ryan is an active hunter, with bow and firearms, is promising, but not definitive. There are plenty of examples of hunters who hold elitist attitudes about firearms. One need look no further than past Democrat presidential nominee John Kerry’s idiotic attempts at gaining GunVoter support by staging a photo-op goose hunt – in spite of his long record supporting restrictive gun laws in Congress. But Ryan isn’t one of those....

Shortly after it was announced that Rep. Paul Ryan would join the Romney ticket as this year's Republican vice presidential candidate, I wrote a piece titled, "What We Know About Paul Ryan and Blacks." Well, I recently learned of another significant addition to this list. As reported on Twitter by CNN's Pete Hamby, Ryan said he has a black sister-in-law, but perhaps even more interesting, his "college sweetheart" was African American. So here is the million-dollar question: Is the fact that Ryan has dated interracially a noteworthy detail to consider when analyzing his politics and policies?
  • Paul Ryan: Mitt Romney's VP Pick Used Racist Term In 2011(projectile vomit alert)

U.S.Congressman Paul Ryan might be a numbers guy, but he's also has no problem using racist terms where illegal immigration is the subject. Rep. Paul Ryan (Wisconsin) was named to be the vice presidential running mate for GOP Presidential Nominee, Governor Mitt Romney. Ryan, the 1st District Wisconsin congressman, has carved a name for himself as a "budget hawk," proposing a radical alteration in the US Budget that would cut entitlement programs to dramatically low levels. But 'Paul Ryan Budget Guy' is only part of the story of who Rep. Ryan really is. The other side of him shows a...

A recent column in which blogger Matt Lewis questioned the conservative credentials of Rep. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, got a lot of attention on our Web site. A number of Daily Caller readers have commented about Ryan, saying he has cast votes they disagree with, particularly in favor of the $700 billion TARP bailout for Wall Street, the auto bailouts and the taxes on AIG bonuses. Here’s how Lewis put it: "Though he talks like Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman, some of Ryan’s most high-profile votes seem closer to Keynes than to Adam Smith. For example, in the span of...

  • Does Paul Ryan’s Record Match His Rhetoric?

Increasingly our Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan has become a national media darling. Representative Ryan is consistently being promoted on social media networks and by the Republican Party of Wisconsin and the nationwide “free market” group Americans for Prosperity. The fact of the matter is that Congressman Ryan voted with George W. Bush 94% of the time. That’s why Ryan’s 2007 Republican Liberty Caucus Liberty Index score, which ranks members of Congress on their voting record from a constitutional perspective, was 91% on economic issues but only 56% on social issues. In 2006, his score on the Liberty Index was 66%...
