San Francisco is pouring millions of dollars into an RV park for the homeless, while young people trying to get a break in their careers are reduced to living in 4-feet high by 3.5-feet wide “pod” spaces for $700 a month. The city opened a “safe parking site” at Candlestick Point in January 2022, which is home to 30 RVs — each of which cost the city $12,000 a month to keep there, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The site, named the Bayview Vehicle Triage Center, has been recommended to be opened for another two years, which will cost...

We have a truck camper (slide in pickup camper) and typically camp in remote areas or national forests or national parks where there is no electrical hook-ups. This means, like many other campers, we depend on our gas-operated refrigerator to keep our food cold or frozen. Due to our age it is no longer comfortable to be climbing into the camper and especially out of bed at night, so we decided to get a conventional ball-hitch travel trailer. To our amazement the majority of new travel trailers we looked at were all 12v batter powered only, that relied on a...

The owner of a party bus company, Rikers Island prison guards and an Amazon worker are just some of the eclectic bunch who have formed a community of 'working homeless' people living out of RVs in the Astoria section of Queens, New York. Similar communities have formed across the US from New England to California where people have chosen a nomadic lifestyle amid a national cost of living crisis. Rising costs across all sectors have caused pain for Americans in every state, particularly those living in rural areas, over the past 12 months. Rental prices continue have risen eight percent...

More than six million Americans have been infected with flu and nearly 3,000 have died from the disease so far since October — in the worst outbreak in a decade. Latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also show there have been 53,000 hospitalizations in that time. A total of 18 states reported 'very high' flu levels in the week ending November 19, four more than in the previous seven-day spell. New Mexico, Texas and Tennessee are the worst affected. America's flu season began early this year, with seasonal viruses returning with a vengeance after lockdowns,...

Washington – Senator Evan Bayh, a member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today praised the Small Business Administration (SBA) for expanding the agency’s largest lending program, a decision that will expand access to capital for more than 70,000 additional American small businesses—including many RV and automobile dealerships across Indiana. Earlier today, the SBA announced an expansion of its 7(a) loan program, effective next week through September 30, 2010. The temporary 7(a) loan size standard will allow businesses to qualify based on net worth and average income.
