Indiana native and father of four Paul Schmucker shared his story of overcoming regret and grief after coercing his girlfriend to get an abortion. Paul, now age 42, grew up as one of twelve in a traditional Amish family in Indiana. He had loving parents and a wonderful childhood in the Amish community. At age 16, according to tradition, Paul experienced Rumspringa, a tradition when Amish youth leave the community and immerse themselves in the outside world. This period of Rumspringa grants young Amish men and women the opportunity to decide whether they want to return to their community or...

After Rumspringa (running around) is over, the Amish young person returns after being gone for two years, and agrees to live according to the Amish ordnung (rules for living) pertaining to clothing, trnasportation, electrical appliances/power, etc, how do Amish bishops, ministers and deacons deal with the inward person(s) that none can see? Which is a greater threat to an Amish person's salvation - the "English" or the carnal man/sinful nature that we (Christian or non-Christian still possess and have to deal with until we are are glorified in heaven? The Apostle Paul: I do the things that I don't want...

I hadn’t gotten beaten by my mom that day, and we hadn’t had any significant arguments over anything. I thought that if I died, I wanted to die without being mad at my mom. So I thought, I might as well take the opportunity to do so before I got back to the house—at which point who knows whether there would be another fight or a beating.
