CHICAGO — U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney on Tuesday accused fellow Republicans of fomenting political division by perpetuating the myth that massive voter fraud denied Donald Trump reelection, and said unity will be difficult to achieve without acknowledging Democratic President Joe Biden won a fair contest. Romney, in a livestreamed interview with Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar on behalf of the Economic Club of Chicago, also said he shared hopes that the Jan. 6 uprising at the Capitol might lead to more bipartisanship but said there’s been no sign of any change in rhetoric.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said Monday that he believes all commercial gun sales should be subject to a background check and signaled he's open to supporting bipartisan legislation from Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). "It certainly should be applied to commercial sales and finding a more comprehensive way to make sure that people are in the system that ought to be in the system," Romney told reporters when asked about expanding background checks. Asked if he would support legislation from Manchin and Toomey, which would expand gun background checks to all commercial sales, Romney said he had...

Utah Senate candidate and former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney claimed Saturday that he wasn't a leader in the "never Trump" movement among conservatives, and said some of the president's policies have been "pretty effective." Romney was asked following a rally in support of Arizona Senate candidate Martha McSally (R) about where he stands with Trump given his fierce criticism of the president during the 2016 campaign. "You led the never Trump movement. I mean, what happened with that?" a reporter asked, in a video posted online. "I don’t think that was the case," Romney responded. "President Trump was not...

On election day in Wisconsin the political winds will be blowing from the south at 5 to 15 mph. The forecast calls for a wintry mix of rain and snow in the south with an inch or more of snow in northern Wisconsin, leading to perhaps the chilliest election day in the Milwaukee area in more than three decades. If surveys and recent historical data of presidential election turnouts are correct, the crummy weather may make Mitt Romney and other Republican candidates smile. Surveys of voters show weather is often a factor in their decision to head to the polls....

Whether things play out that way on Tuesday — and whether the Romney camp’s play for the state was in fact a decision made in light of the candidate’s rising momentum after the first debate — remains to be seen. Democrats, naturally, had a different take. Late Sunday, just as Romney touched down in the state, the Obama campaign emailed out to the press a report that Republicans had only invested money in advertising in the Keystone State because the airwaves elsewhere in the country were already saturated. But if early reports from volunteers on the rally’s size were any...

Key footnote: According to Gallup, after losing his five-point lead last week, Obama’s back out to a five-point lead in their daily tracker over the past 36 hours. That’s the first — and so far only — data I’ve seen suggesting that Romney’s bounce might not be durable, and even that could turn back around if Ryan cements Mitt’s Denver thrashing of O with another clear win on Thursday.

As the polls become less skewed closer to the election, so too will the RCP average. In fact, I predict the RCP average will reflect a Romney lead before election day. When both the RCP average and the UnSkewedPoll.com average show Romney leading before the election, which is going to happen, we'll know two things. The polls are fairly accurate, because the pollsters care more about their credibility as the election is near, and that Mitt Romney is going to win the election. I stand behind both predictions. Those three polls released yesterday

Direct Link to Video Interviewed by libtards Charlie Rose and Norah O' Donnell, former Republican pollster Frank Luntz speaks to them on "CBS This Morning" about President Obama's lead in Ohio according to their cBS/NYT poll, and Mitt Romney's plan to gain voters in the key battleground state. Luntz goes onto make some wild predictions, like the one I put in quotes in the title.

Just saw Romney's acceptance speech. Just when you though America couldn't get in the stuff any deeper. How utterly sad that this is the best we can come up with.

In politics, what goes around comes around — especially if you’re running for president. In 1988, then-Congressman Newt Gingrich’s success in bringing down Democratic House Speaker Jim Wright on ethics charges helped propel the Georgian into the House GOP leadership. But in 1994, then-Speaker Gingrich became the subject of his own lengthy ethics investigation. Although he was not found guilty on any of the 84 charges, the probe resulted in a reprimand from the House Ethics Committee, a $300,000 fine, dwindling support from the Republican caucus and his eventual resignation from Congress. “I’m willing to lead,” Gingrich said, announcing his...

Former House Speaker Newton Leroy Gingrich, what happened — to Ronald Reagan’s 11th commandment, to that (fleeting) vow to “stay positive” in your GOP 2012 presidential campaign Here’s Sacramento-based GOP consultant Rob Stutzman on Gingrich’s latest moves:“Newt has put on a vest strapped with C4 and he’s running into the middle of New Hampshire to pull the ripcord. It’s a murder-suicide — because it don’t think he’ll grow his category there.”Tough words, but Stutzman (always a great quote machine) isn’t alone in likening Gingrich to a dangerous character these days. That’s because the former Speaker has wasted no time drop...

Mitt Romney’s polls seem stuck in the low to mid twenty percentile. As the weeks and months have passed Romney’s polling numbers seem steady in that range. There’s a reason for that. The conservative voters within the GOP do not support Romney for President of the United States. That, dear reader, is why Herman Cain’s numbers have been skyrocketing There are recent reports stating that Herman Cain is the candidate the Tea Party has thrown its support behind and Cain is the top choice from the GOP field by SOUTHERNERS. As a conservative southern gentleman – none of this comes...

A reader writes in, furiously asserting that “the talentless hacks at National Review” are responsible for Mitt Romney’s hard-to-dislodge frontrunner or near-frontrunner status. As much as I’d like to believe that the magazine and web site alone can determine the Republican nominee, I’d note that the magazine featured a rather positive profile of Tim Pawlenty in the March 7 issue, just five months before he withdrew from the race. Sometimes the cover features Marco Rubio and declares, “Yes, He Can.” Sometimes the cover features Howard Dean and begs, “Democrats: Please Nominate This Man.” (Ted Cruz must be hoping we’re due...

Surprise, surprise! Herman Cain has risen to at least a tie for the number one slot amongst the candidates for the GOP nomination for President. It seems everyone is surprised – but Herman Cain. So – what the heck is going on here? Here’s what I THINK is happening: REAL conservatives within the republican ranks are in near rebellion. They actually LIKE Herman Cain and they actually LIKE his platform. But that is only a part of the story here… in my opinion. Conservative republicans have made no secret of the fact that they do not want Romney as the...

There was one clear winner from Tuesday's Republican presidential debate, based on the simple metrics of name recognition: businessman Herman Cain's "9-9-9 Plan." Virtually all the candidates at the debate table had something to say about Cain's plan to replace the tax code with three, flat nine-percent federal taxes on consumption, business and income. Cain, once delegated to the remote wings of the debate stage, has enjoyed a surge in the polls ever since he won the straw poll in Orlando, Fla., last month, and at the first debate since he joined former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov....
