    Rudy Giuliani has extended his advantage in the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in the United States, according to a poll by Hart/Newhouse released by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News. 38 per cent of respondents would vote for the former New York City mayor in a 2008 primary. Arizona senator John McCain is second with 24 per cent, followed by former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich with 10 per cent, and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with eight per cent.
