Jan. 19 (UPI) -- A contractor working on a remodeling job in Washington was removing a bathtub from the home when he made a surprising discovery inside the wall: a grenade. Vadim Kharkhavyy, owner of Polar Bear Construction, said he tore out the tub in the third-floor bathroom of the home in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, revealing a hidden compartment in the wall and an object that appeared to be a grenade. "My first thought was to get out of there," Kharkavyy told KIRO-TV. Kharkavyy returned to the bathroom and captured video of the grenade, which he posted to his company's...

I love a good, hot bath. I'm 73 and mobility is a problem. Walk ins are expensive- Has anyone invented a drop-on-top-of-your-existing-tub-rail, a door unit that raises an existing tub to around 30", so I can sit on a chair in a "walk in" without paying 6K ?

The streets of Britain have become swamped with tons of rubbish and clothes to be recycled in coronavirus quarantine clear-outs. Councils have warned of a 'wave of waste' coming from homes across the country. As most of the nation is in quarantine, families are generating much more food leftovers. And many are using the spare time to carry out home and garden makeovers, creating even more rubbish and recycling. On top of that, people are even dumping items outside charity shops – building mountains of clothes and bric-a-brac despite the fact they are not open. Cases of fly-tipping across Britain...

Among the Australians upgrading their shower, 68 per cent increased its size, with 64 per cent switching over to rainfall showerheads or 62 per cent handheld showerheads. Around 22 per cent of homeowners included a bathtub large enough to fit a couple while 12 per cent upgraded their showers to accommodate two people. The study found white was the preferred colour for walls, cabinets and bench tops - and often accented by grey flooring. Up to 12 per cent of homeowners are getting high-tech upgrade to their bathrooms, including digital controls and built-in sound for showers and self-cleaning and overflow...

Donald Trump, regarding the United Nations' remodeling plan: Senator, congratulations. You've got a mess on your hands. The Senate International Security Subcommittee, chaired by Oklahoma Republican Tom Coburn, was holding a hearing yesterday into the proposed $1.5 billion refurbish project of the United Nations building. One of the star witnesses was The Donald. Just on pure theater, it was fun to watch. In case you missed it, here's Trump's testimony. It's long, but I promise you it's worth it:
  • VANITY: DFW-area places to see model baths?

Remodeling baths on a grand scale -- ripping out tubs and sinks, just Bath Crashers. Last time I was involved in something on this scale, I could go to Home Depot Expo to see baths and kitchens galore. The design experts helped us come up with a plan and assisted us in our choices. Apparently, they have since closed all of their Expo Centers. We visited a place called Home Decor, I think, and they had a few model bathrooms that gave us some basic ideas. We also visited some model homes in new neighborhhods, and the baths looked great...

Welcome to Bantanamo Posted By Colum Lynch Tuesday, February 9, 2010 - 5:29 PM Share For the next four years, the United Nations' nerve center, including Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's office, will be situated in a squat, three-story, corrugated steel building on the U.N.'s north lawn that looks like a cross between a suburban big-box store and a high-security lockup facility. Bantánamo, a nickname embraced by U.N. staffers, has taken much of the grandeur out of diplomacy at the United Nations. It's a serious comedown for U.N. civil servants and delegates who have been grinding away in the cause of peace...

Wed Apr 30, 3:23 PM ET David Chatham shows off his newly remodeled bathroom in Raleigh, NC Wednesday, April 30, 2003. Chatham believes he'll benefit from the work he's doing on his home in Raleigh, N.C. The bathroom decor, which dated to the mid-1980s, 'was really unattractive,' he said. So he and his fiancee recently removed the floral wall paper and had the pink tile replaced with tile in a neutral tone. (AP/Stan Gilliland)
