[Catholic Caucus] The worst kept secret is finally out! “Whoever has had, as I have happened several times, the luck of meeting him and speaking to him with the utmost cultural confidence, knows that Pope Francis (sic) conceives Christ as Jesus of Nazareth, man, not God incarnate. Once incarnated, Jesus ceases to be a God and becomes a man until his death on the cross. The proof that confirms this reality and creates a Church that is completely different from the others is proved by some episodes which deserve to be remembered. The first is what happens in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus goes after...

ROME – Topless protesters assailed the cathedral of La Plata, Argentina, this weekend, hurling Molotov cocktails and human excrement at the church building while demanding legalized abortion. The “tetazo,” or topless protest, was a spin-off from Argentina’s annual “National Encounter of Women” taking place Sunday in La Plata, home to one of the world’s largest Catholic cathedrals. The activists called for “legal abortion now, unobstructed, safe, and free in the hospital” while also shouting insults against the Catholic Church. Chanted slogans included: “Abort your heterosexuality,” “‘Death to the macho’ is not a metaphor,” “The only church that enlightens is the...

A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that Obamacare’s special protections for transgender individuals and women who choose to have abortions violate religious freedom. Judge Reed O’Connor of U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, a George W. Bush appointee, overturned the protections by vacating the Obama-era rule that banned health insurers and providers who receive federal taxpayer funds from denying coverage or treatment to any individual based on sex, gender identity, or termination of pregnancy. As the Hill noted, Reed is the same judge who ruled last December that Obamacare in its entirety is unconstitutional. In January 2017...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem (Music in The Bible) Psalm 1 Psalm 1. 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind...

Legend has it that on 31 October 1517, a German friar named Martin Luther (1483–1546) nailed a statement of criticism of the Roman Catholic Church on the doors of Wittenberg church. It is not known for sure whether he really nailed his protest to the doors or sent it directly to the local Archbishop. But one thing is certain: his ‘95 theses’ shook Europe to the core and led to a great cultural revolution. It encouraged the German Peasants’ Revolt of 1524–25, in which the rural poor raised an army of 300,000 to fight the feudal order, and later still...

Morning "Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine." John 21:12 In these words the believer is invited to a holy nearness to Jesus. "Come and dine," implies the same table, the same meat; aye, and sometimes it means to sit side by side, and lean our head upon the Saviour's bosom. It is being brought into the banqueting-house, where waves the banner of redeeming love. "Come and dine," gives us a vision of union with Jesus, because the only food that we can feast upon when we dine with Jesus is himself. Oh, what union is this! It is a...

“He answered them, ‘My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.’ For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God” (John 5:17–18). The Sabbath observance was at the heart of Jewish worship in Jesus’ day. The Lord’s reply to those who persecuted Him for violating it (5:16), “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working,” implies that the Sabbath was not instituted for God’s benefit but for man’s...

October 16 2019 Wednesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time Reading 1 Rom 2:1-11 You, O man, are without excuse, every one of you who passes judgment. For by the standard by which you judge another you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things. We know that the judgment of God on those who do such things is true.Do you suppose, then, you who judge those who engage in such thingsand yet do them yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?Or do you hold his priceless kindness, forbearance, and patiencein low esteem, unaware that the kindness...

A miraculous 17th-century icon of Christ has finally returned home after being lost during communist times. The revered “Savior of Moskvoretesky” (Pantocrator) Icon was believed lost after 1927, but returned to the Holy Protection Cathedral on Red Square, commonly known as St. Basil’s, yesterday, reports TASS. Lost more than 90 years ago, the miraculous icon was discovered in an antique market and bought by collector Stanislav Nikolaev last year, and was restored over the summer. “The icon has found its place, I hope for many years, and perhaps, forever. The icon came to me, as I said, quite by accident,...

Even pigsties, sheep pens, and cemeteries can become meeting venues for believers – as long as it allows them to avoid questioning and inspections by the state. The Chinese authorities spare no effort in persecuting people for their religious beliefs by vigorously cracking down on “unofficial” and state-approved churches alike. Many meeting venues have been shut down, forcibly demolished, or taken over for government use. To continue their gatherings and avoid being found out, believers have to be creative and think of every possible method to practice their faith. For them, harsh environments and long distances aren’t real issues – as...

SÃO PAULO - In Brazil, most of the criticism directed towards the Synod of Bishops for the Amazon came from the government, not from members of the hierarchy. Bishop José Luís Azcona is among the minority of Brazilian prelates to raise concerns about the synod, calling the Vatican meeting’s preparatory document “weak and inconsistent.” Still, he has sought to distance his criticism from that of President Jair Bolsonaro, who he said wants to meddle in the Brazilian Church. In the past few months, the Spanish-born Azcona, bishop emeritus of the Prelature of Marajó - located in the Amazonian State of...

Stephen Brady: 'Los Angeles archdiocese will be one of the biggest hit in the country'SACRAMENTO, Calif. (ChurchMilitant.com) - California just became the sixth state to drop its statute of limitations for victims of child sexual abuse. The law signed on Sunday by California's Gov. Gavin Newsom gives all victims of childhood sexual abuse a three-year period beginning Jan. 1 to file lawsuits. Following that period, the new law will extend the age limit of the victim filing from 26 to 40 and the time limit of when the abuse is discovered to when the case is filed from three to...

From Winnie the Pooh to Shrek, donkeys have appeared as quirky, loyal sidekicks in films and children's books for decades. Often cast as unassuming, stubborn and sometimes a little dimwitted, donkeys have a rich history as the real-life heroes of agriculture, town planning and religion. And if you look closely, all donkeys across the world, whether they are grazing in pastures or gracing the big screen, share one mysterious feature — they have a dark cross on their backs, running down their spines and across their shoulders. "They've all got them, even the dark ones. If you shaved their fur,...

[Barf Alert] Amazon Synod Proposes New Episcopal Body to Implement Pope’s Decrees Synod fathers reject 'intra-Christian colonialism,' calling for 'deep ecological conversion' VATICAN (ChurchMilitant.com) - Amazon Synod delegates are calling for the urgent creation of a permanent and representative episcopal organization to promote synodality in the Amazon. The group is meant to concretize and implement the directives issued by Pope Francis after the synod. The new body will work for the defense of the rights of indigenous peoples, the integral formation of pastoral agents and the creation of Amazonian seminaries — a plan proposed by 180 synod fathers Tuesday morning at the 11th general...

1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: 2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. 3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. 4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying,...

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WYFF) – A pastor who pleaded guilty to child sex charges will spend the next decade in prison. The victim says she became pregnant twice by 32-year-old Phillip Buckson and had abortions to terminate the pregnancies. A pro-life display memorializing the unborn victims of abortion was destroyed by vandals Saturday outside a Catholic church in Pennsylvania. The report is the latest in a growing string of harassment, assaults, vandalism and other incidents targeting pro-lifers. Earlier this month, volunteers at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Buckingham, Pennsylvania, set up the pro-life display for Respect Life month, according to a news release. The 61 crosses in the display symbolize the 61 million babies who have been aborted since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion on demand in 1973. The pastor Rev. Monsignor Joseph P. Gentili said 40 of...
