How does giving $13.75 billion in one-time payments to those on Social Security create or save jobs? Also, how does recovery money given to USAID, whose express purpose is to give taxpayer money to poor foreigners save or create American jobs? Will V.P. Biden, the overseer for the implementation of the stimulus package, answer Oversight Chairman Towns (D-NY) concern for establishing a standard for tracking the stimulus money? Here is video of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs today essentially dodging a question by CBS News' Chip Reid on why the Recovery.gov website only shows the Stimulus Money spending path down the chain so far, but not all the way to where it is actually spent. Gibbs actually responds that he has not "googled quite that far on recovery.gov" to know how far it goes! According to recovery.gov the largest chunk of the recovery plan ($288 Billion) is dedicated to Tax Relief. However upon further examination, there is no obvious line item for tax relief, and even worse half of this category is dedicated to "Protecting the Vulnerable".

Q: Who runs Recovery.gov? A: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act establishes an oversight board of inspectors general (the watchdogs of government) called the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, which is responsible for overseeing Federal agencies to ensure that there is transparency and accountability for the expenditure of recovery funds. For the interim period until that board becomes operational, the President has coordinated a team from across Federal agencies to track Recovery Act dollars and report findings on this website.

On Friday, many people noticed that the federal government established a website entitled Recovery.gov. It includes a graphic of "Recovery.gov" in the normal Obama campaign-style typeset, and it contains the following message. "Recovery.gov: Check back after the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to see how and where your tax dollars are spent.
