    House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Zohran Mamdani, the winner of New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary, must prepare to “aggressively address the rise in antisemitism in the city of New York.” During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Jeffries criticized Mamdani’s use of the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which fueled his detractors’ accusations of antisemitism. “Globalizing the intifada by way of example is not an acceptable phrasing,” Jeffries said. “He’s going to have to clarify his position on that as he moves forward.”

    Several states where reproduction rights are at risk are seeing a surge in women registering to vote following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade case, abolishing the constitutional right to abortion. An analysis by Targetsmart Insights, a Democratic political data and data services firm, found that women are out-registering men by significant margins in states where reproductive rights are in danger of being repealed, such as Kansas, Wisconsin and Michigan.

    Mask requirements at most Massachusetts public schools will be extended until Jan. 15, 2022, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced Tuesday. “Masks remain a simple and effective measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep students in school safely,” the state's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education commissioner, Jeffrey Riley, said in a statement.
