Herman Cain, the insurgent populist whose candidacy has been ensnared by allegations of sexual impropriety, said Saturday that he is leaving the race for the Republican presidential nomination, saying that the allegations have cast a "cloud of doubt over me and this campaign." "As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign," he said at an event in Atlanta. "I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt . . . on me, on my family, not because we are not fighters, not because I am not...

Americans nationwide are evenly divided over the issue of same sex marriage. But Republicans in Mississippi are divided over a wholly different wedlock issue: interracial marriage. In a PPP poll [pdf] released Thursday, a 46% plurality of registered Republican voters said they thought interracial marriage was not just wrong, but that it should be illegal. 40% said interracial marriage should be legal. Gov. Haley Barbour, with a home state advantage in Mississippi, also topped PPP's survey of the GOP primary field at 37%, followed by Mike Huckabee at 19%, and Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich at 10%.

You've no doubt by now heard about the report from... wait for this one... the National Inquirer quoting an upcoming unauthorized biography of Sarah Palin (Deadspin.com brought it to mainstream knowledge). The Inquirer reported that Rice confirmed a sexual encounter with Palin in 1987. We haven't covered it since Rice hasn't been in the league since 2004 and this has nothing to do with basketball. But since if it's anything about anything, Charles Barkley will talk about it, and since, let's be honest, Charles Barkley is never lacking in entertainment value, we thought we'd pass along Barkley's comments about the...

Sarah Palin bedding a budding NBA star, snorting coke and cheating on the First Dude? You betcha. The scandalous details are revealed in the highly-anticipated tell-all "The Rogue: Searching for The Real Sarah Palin," written by best-selling author Joe McGinniss. Palin bedded future pro hoops player Glen Rice while he was playing at the University of Michigan, the National Enquirer reports about the McGinniss book. The sharp-shooting Rice - who spent one season with the Knicks - was playing in the annual "Great Alaska Shootout" while Palin was a sports reporter with Anchorage television station KTUU, the Enquirer said. Their...

"At this point in my life," says Audrey, age 39, "I thought I'd be married with children." A native of southeast Washington, D.C., and the child of parents who are approaching their 50th wedding anniversary, Audrey seems like the proverbial "good catch"—smart, funny, well-educated, attractive. Audrey earns a good living, too, with an income from management consulting that far surpasses what her parents ever made. Her social life is busy as well, filled with family, friends and church. Only about one in 20 black women is interracially married; they are much less likely than black men to cross the race...

Kindergarten Cop Parent Wages Ideological War After School Gives Son Book About Same-Sex Marriage BY JAKE TAPPER and AVERY MILLER "My wife and I have religious beliefs that say to us it's a sin," David Parker said. He's referring to four pages in a book his 5-year-old son was given by his Massachusetts kindergarten teachers. The book "Who's In a Family" -- included in a "diversity book bag" for students at Estabrook Elementary School -- is about all kinds of families, including multi-racial, single parent, and, to Parker's chagrin, same-sex parents. There are two main issues in this controversy, which...
