Seven more Republican leaders have announced their endorsement for Pennsylvania's Democratic candidate for governor Josh Shapiro, following photos of GOP state Sen. Doug Mastriano wearing a Confederate military uniform. This comes one month after nine Republicans vowed to support the Democratic candidate and called Mastriano an "extremist" who threatens American democracy. According to a statement released by the Shapiro campaign on Tuesday, the group includes Michael Chertoff, the former US Secretary of Homeland Security under President George W. Bush, and Mario Civera, a former state representative. Shapiro, the state's attorney general said he was proud to receive the endorsement from...

A Texas Department of Public Safety official said responding officers were cautious as they entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas because “they could’ve been shot.” Nineteen children and two teachers were murdered after authorities say an 18-year-old male entered with a rifle 12 minutes after he crashed a car near campus. The New York Times reported the shooter was inside the school for about an hour before officers finally breached the classroom he was in and shot and killed him. Reporters demanded answers during a contentious press conference Thursday afternoon. State law enforcement officials addressed the public a day...

Texas cops said last night that they didn't immediately rush in to find the shooter on Tuesday's attack after being shot at because they feared they might be killed, and even suggested that they deliberately locked the gunman in the classroom where he slaughtered 21 people in order to trap him. *** He was being challenged by Wolf Blitzer over why the first officers who responded to the shooting retreated after Salvador Ramos shot at them with his AR-15 and then waited an hour for tactical SWAT teams to take him out, leaving him alone in a classroom with the...

Kiss canceled their planned Las Vegas residency suddenly late last week, amid questions about their coronavirus safety protocols. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers were scheduled to play at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas as part of their long-running End of the Road World Tour. The decision came after some of the band's roadies blamed guitar tech Francis Stueber's death on negligent safety protocols in Rolling Stone. Kiss disputed many of the claims the tour staffers made. Kiss was scheduled to play at Zappos Theater from Dec. 29 to Feb. 5, but options to buy tickets...

I was appalled to see a kneeling white marine in full dress uniform have a piece of black tape across his mouth saying "I can't breathe", apparently in Washington DC. I was equally appalled at the sight of the police officer laying prone on the ground before his protester masters, and a whole group of police (mostly white) kneeling at some demonstration. Have any of these kowtowing idiots been disciplined for their actions?

A wounded veteran is sounding off on a study that found some students are exhibiting symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder following the 2016 election. The study, which was released Monday by the Journal of American College Health, evaluated 769 students at Arizona State University studying psychology in January and February 2017. About 25 percent of respondents reported symptoms of PTSD because Donald Trump won the election. “What we were interested in seeing was, did the election for some people constitute a traumatic experience? And we found that it did for 25 percent of young adults,” said lead author Melissa...

The delivery of knives bought online to private addresses is to be banned under a package of measures to tackle knife crime to be announced by the home secretary, Amber Rudd. Knives bought online will in future have to be collected in person, with retailers responsible for checking that all buyers are 18 or older. New powers are also proposed for the police to seize banned weapons such as zombie knives, knuckledusters and throwing stars if they are found in someone’s home, and to arrest those involved. The proposed new knife crime offences are to be subject to a consultation...

There has been a lot of buildup ahead of Ben Shapiro‘s speaking engagement at UC Berkeley. Between the university initially blocking him from its campus and its efforts to limit the crowd size, it’s becoming quite the anticipated event.

...a Northern Ireland politician has said. The attraction in Sichuan province, about 930 miles from the sea, will let hundreds of people at a time experience the shipwreck. The Titanic was built in east Belfast. Former Lord Mayor of Belfast Jim Rodgers said he had asked the Chinese firm behind the 1bn yuan (£100.7m) project to reconsider their plans. He said that while it was a "great idea" to build the Titanic replica at the Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort, "to have a simulation of an iceberg collision is going a step too far".

The cleanup of a plaza in lower Manhattan where protesters have been camped out for a month was postponed early Friday, sending cheers up from a crowd that had feared the effort was merely a pretext to evict them. Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway said the owners of the private park, Brookfield Office Properties, had put off the cleaning, scheduled for 7 a.m. More than hour beforehand, supporters of the protesters had started streaming into the park, creating a crowd of several hundred chanting people. A confrontation between police and protesters, who had vowed to stay put through civil disobedience, had...

London vs. Olympic ShootingThe city's mayor decides that children shouldn't watch the sport. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a mayor in possession of a problem must be in want of a policy. But not all policies are created equal, and almost none are as silly or as counter-productive as the one that London mayor Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday: Children will be barred from watching shooting events at the 2012 London Olympics. The restriction is designed to help stem London’s rising gun-crime rate, and to prevent the “glorification” of firearms. But it is predicated upon a farcical misconception,...

U.S. Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), who both supported the extension, released the following joint statement: “When the Senate approved the last unemployment benefits extension in November, we supported it, but warned that without additional measures to promote economic growth and jobs creation, many Americans would remain unemployed when that extension ran out. Indeed, that extension has now run out, and the...
