Mercury problem may be more serious than experts thought 08/25/02 By BEN RAINES Staff Reporter Doctors and scientists say mercury exposure appears to afflict two groups in America -- well-educated people who can afford to buy the most expensive fish, and recreational anglers and poor "meat" fishermen who eat large marine fish regularly. Some strong patterns appear to be emerging from new data gathered by sources including the New Jersey Department of Health, a clinic affiliated with Harvard University and doctors in San Francisco, Wisconsin and Canada. The evidence suggests that high mercury levels in people, such as those found...

AWESOME This is almost overwhelming when you think about it. You MUST read to the end: (smile) Moses and the people were in the desert, but what was he going to do ith them? They had to be fed, and feeding 2 or 3 million people requires a lot of food. According to the Quartermaster General in the Army, it is reported that Moses would have to have had 1500 tons of food each day. Do you know that to bring that much food each day, two freight trains, each at least a mile long, would be required! Besides you...

LONDON (AP) — British troops on desert exercises were plagued by melting boots, guns that jammed and radios that frequently went on the blink, an auditors' report said Thursday — failings that raise questions about Britain's role in any future military attack on Iraq. While the report praised British forces' overall performance during last year's Operation Saif Sareea II in Oman, critics fear Britain's proud military is too poorly equipped to serve alongside its U.S. allies. ``At the moment, on the ground as far as infantry is concerned, we have a rifle which is deficient and a communications system which...

Canadians have had an imposed Charter of Rights for 20 years. This Charter was written by Mister Trudeau and Chretien for "everyone" in the world. That includes Canadians but it also includes Ben Laden. Ben Laden Canada is being flooded by phony refugee claimants. Because of the Charter of Rights, these phony refugees have legal aid lawyers help them all the way to the Supreme Court which takes years and all that time these phony refugees and their extended families are living off welfare.

Boy am I glad my college education isn't like this -- or maybe i've just been sleeping too much. ---------------------------- What to do about education: the universities Gertrude Himmelfarb Commentary, Oct 1994 v98 n4 p21(9) Brief Summary: Higher education in the US underwent two periods of reformation in the 20th century, in which the traditional academic dogma was replaced by open admissions policies, shoddy scholarship, and political correctness. Still, a remnant of traditional scholarship exists, and it may again flourish. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "THERE is a great deal of ruin in a nation," Adam Smith informed his readers. And so there is...

My Side of the Story Solutions for the 21st Century By Ken Goodall (As printed in The Exeter News-Letter on Tuesday April 16th, 2002) On an Internet news message board a poster named Morpheus stated that "There are no solutions for the major dilemmas confronting humans in the twenty-first century. You clearly disagree with that statement, so prove me wrong" Along with this statement he included a list of problems. In this column I have tried to address those problems. What are your solutions for poverty? First off I'd suggest that the person get a job. I know that sounds...

We have a Hewlett-Packard, purchased in Oct.01, with the new XP system. We have had continuous trouble with it, and have even sent it back to the factory, where they replaced the hard drive. The system has a tendency to just shut down in the middle of working. Also, Microsoft neglected to make the system compatible with HP's 3-way printer (even though the computer is also HP.) There are other problems concerning word processing, as well. We are at a point where work that needs to be done, cannot be done on the HP, and must be taken to KINKO'S....

Ok, I have a problem with my home computer that I have never seen or heard of before. I can not find anyone else who has ever seen or heard of this problem before either. So here is whats going on. Please excuse my lack of technical and proper computer language and terms. When I turn on my computer it enters the "memory test." Normally i can hit ESC to get out of it and it starts right up. Or I can hit DEL and enter "Set Up." I always just hit ESC, though it rarely enters the memory test...
