The New York Times described Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) as a “pragmatic moderate” in its report on her selection to be the running mate for former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday. As Breitbart News reported Tuesday, Harris was rated the 4th most liberal Senator by the non-partisan GovTrack.us website, based on her support for left-wing legislation. She has no bipartisan legislative achievements to her name.

So, Microsoft submits 20000 lines of code to the Linux kernel, all licensed under the GPL. Microsoft, who considers Linux a great threat, and once called the GPL a "cancer". Opinions on this one are flying all around us, but what does Linus Torvalds, Linux' benevolent dictator, think about all this?

Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore. Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package). But Romney is a NO go. And I...

Mitt Romney praised President-elect Barack Obama Monday for extending an olive branch to Republicans. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President-elect Barack Obama Monday for extending an olive branch to Republicans. “He’s been already reaching out. He’s asked for the input of Republicans with regard to the stimulus plan. I think he is very much following the speeches he used to give during the campaign that he would reach across the aisle,” Romney said during an interview on CNN’s “American Morning.” “I think he’s showing a pragmatic bent. And at a time like this with so many challenges, that’s the...

<p>WASHINGTON — Add another reluctant supporter to the list backing Republican presidential contender Sen. John McCain: Colorado's Rep. Tom Tancredo.</p> <p>Tancredo, who once told a national television audience he was "sick and tired" of having to choose between the lesser of two evils, said he'll go ahead and back his longtime immigration-reform foe, McCain, because he thinks either of the Democratic alternatives would be worse.</p>

For the past four years, Duf Sundheim has been walking a tightrope between the really, really conservative wing of the California Republican Party and the party's "still pretty conservative but we like to win an election occasionally" bloc. But with the end of his four-year term just a few days away, the party chairman made it clear this morning that his money is on the pragmatists. --snip-- For people who don't spend a lot of time hanging around GOP activists, "broad coalition" is the code phrase for blacks, Latinos, moderate Republicans, decline-to-state voters and the occasional conservative Democrat. Who, as...

On Friday Several kernel developers issued a position paper criticizing the GPLv3 drafts. That prompted Software Freedom Law Center (SLFC) chairman Eben Moglen to issue a "renewed invitation" yesterday to kernel developers to participate in the GPLv3 process. Linus Torvalds responded to Moglen's statement by saying that his position on the license is clear and that he's "fed up" with the FSF.

Well now we know. The future and safety of the United States is dependent on the proliferation of freedom and liberty throughout the world. George Bush said so in his inaugural address. Thus the United States is now committed in some vague way to eradicating tyranny, evil, and authoritarian governments around the world. This is a big job. Perhaps when we have that task accomplished we can get to work eliminating sin. Must it be said again? George Bush is a good and decent man, honestly trying to make the world a better place. John Kerry is a political hack,...
