My wife and I have been to France many times but have never used a tour. Just take a Michelin green guide and a map. The Normandy beaches and graveyard are very accessible. If the weather is good you can pick up picnic supplies at any charcuterie, sorta like a deli. Trip Advisor can steer you to good accommodations.

Mindboggling how everyone who works with those “manages up” types knows exactly what’s going on, yet the bosses are clueless and refuse to believe anything negative about them.

    It is pretty tiresome.

A True Prepper with no place to go will stay in location, 'bug in' which has been previously prepared, fortified, and defended with the intent to save themselves and their family.
I vaguely recall the Rod Serling, "Twilight Zone" about the family who had a nuclear defense shelter, and in time of crisis many in their neighborhood showed up.

Bump for my husband - this is on his bucket list. He has interviewed many WWII vets - (an aside - I have all these taped interviews and scanned pictures - probably 30 vets or more ). He so wants to go to Normandy but I think he needs to do sooner rather than later.

Psychopath are not always criminals either. While they might not have any feelings for anyone they are practical in a sense. They know that certain behavior could land them in jail..so, avoid doing anything criminal.

A civil conflict here would be genocide on the wholesale bank on it.

You are right about this. BUT, there won't ever be a civil conflict. Here's why:

    1. By and large, Americans are too chickesh!t to do anything. Those that MAY or those that are ABLE have invested far too much in life to give it all up. Mortgages, new/semi-new cars, toys (boats, quads, bikes, guns, etc.), big screen TV's and others.

The very moment that someone does anything resembling civil conflict, that all goes away. It's the same mentality that keeps a lot of people away from protests and rallies: "I gotta work that day". The government knows full well that debt is slavery, and they have done very well enslaving the population.

I know what you are thinking, and it's the same tired statement that most offer: "When the people lose all of that, they will fight back." Well, ok, you're right again. Which is the very reason that they will likely not "lose it all".

The powered elites are not about to let themselves and their families live in the post-apocalytpic landscape of a total economic breakdown. As such, they will do everything in their power to maintain the "status quo".

Think about it like this: in 2008, the feds had contingency plans for their contingency plans. There was an article that came out a while back that shed light on this, and the fact that they didn't even use most the initial contingency plans. They didn't need to because, as bad as things got, they didn't get bad enough. If things had been much, much worse, no worries. They had plans for that, too.

How about the fact that we have been teetering on the brink of economic collapse for decades now? In fact, every bit of sound and proven economic wisdom and theory suggests we should have collapsed long ago. Yet, here we are - status quo - and I'd be willing to bet that is where we'll stay.

Another big objection when I say that civil insurrection will never occur? "It will the day they start confiscating the weapons!" Perhaps, but I daresay we have been OK thus far with anything the feds do to restrict gun right - Assault weapons ban in 1994? That's ok.

Take a peek at California. I know many fine, upstanding, gun owning patriots in the Golden State, some of which are family. Has there been any conflict there yet? Sure, they haven't come for the guns yet, but they have made many of the rifles owned illegal, making their owners criminals. That in istelf is enough to rise up against. Yet here we are - status quo.

We are perfectly ok with submitting to background checks to buy new guns. Show me where the 2nd Amendment says "Shall not be infringed, as long as you have a background check". Hell, those so-called "patriots" that hold FFL's are perfectly ok with pissing all over the 2nd Amendment, just to make the almighty $$$. Think they will give that up to fight back? If you do, I'd point to the gun store owners forced to hand over client info to the feds. Sure, they 'resisted' doing so, but in the end, the feds won, and turned that dude's worled upside down. No insurrection followed.

Hell, even in Tejas, the alleged bastion of freedom, liberty & sovereignty, gun owners are perfectly ok with asking permission via permits to open carry pistols. I mean, let's face it: if they did anything less, it would mean legal battles, jail time and more. So, even in that alleged enclave of liberty, they have been willing to submit to the state's requirements.

What if Hitlery gets the win this November, and appoints the most liberal of judges to SCOTUS? Well, I doubt very seriously they will outright confiscate your weapons. Instead, they will slowly make it harder and harder - impossible, in most cases - to obtain certain types of firearms.

They won't come for yours, but they'll make sure you can't get the ammo to use with it. Same with the rest of the guns that they don't outright ban. In time, your collection will be useless. Either that, or they will force you to register in order to be able to make ammo purchases (refer to California!). As such, they will know what you have, and will be sure that you won't be able to pass it along to your children, or ever use it against the state.

In general, Americans who already submit to UN-Constitutional background checks and permitting requirements will be ok with this, because, hey, at least they ain't confiscating those weapons! You'll still own them, alright, but going back to my original point, should you attempt to use them against the state, well, that will require just far too much sacrifice, since you'll also likely have that aforementioned mortgage, car, job, toys, etc.

    2. Those small handfuls of patriots that HAVE stood, such as at Bundy Ranch or at Malheur, are berated and dragged through the mud by PEOPLE WHO HAVE SIMILAR BELIEFS! I can't tell you the number of times I watched as folks, right here on FR, denigrated those that stood bravely, calling them idiots, stupid and more! "That's not the hill to die on" most suggest. Well, you know what? They stood for pure freedom, and I don't care what the hill, the truth is that freedom is ALWAYS worthy to die for.

How the hell can we expect to actively participate in any sort of conflict if that's the attitude we hold? The sad part is, it's the very same attitude we see in many of the 'patriot' and 'militia' movements of today. There is so much internal conflict in these groups and that is NOT conducive to getting their stuff together and mounting a coordinated effort under most circumstances.

Finally, what became of those that actually stood? As I've mentioned previously, they ultimately went quietly into the night. No fighting. No conflict. Quietly surrendered to the feds. Firearms confiscated. Preps confiscated. Lives destroyed. Families destroyed. Freedom & liberty destroyed.

The truth is, the feds are smart enough to know that they don't NEED to conduct mass confiscation. All they need to do is pin even the flimsiest crime on you, wait for the opportune moment while you are separated from your collection & preps, take you into custody and that's that. It's all over but the crying. The system is rigged this way, and has been for some time.

Ultimately, the fault lies within us. We have failed the Founders legacy. They fought back over much, much, much less. We have been more than willing to slowly give up more and more freedom, in the name of security, over decades time.

The time to fight back was long ago. I daresay, as the author of OP's article, that it is likely too late. The water is boiling. While America used to be a "melting pot", we are nothing more than a pot of frog soup today.

I absolutely believe it was George Soros who withdrew 2 billion from the Dow Jones in the fall of 2008, prompting McCain to rush back to DC while Obama coolly said ‘they can call me if they need me’. That was a turning point in the 2008 election. All manipulated to help Obama.
