Comey, who pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday, was indicted last month on charges of making a false statement and obstruction related to 2020 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee -- but Justice Department officials have privately expressed that the case could quickly unravel under the scrutiny of a federal judge and defense lawyers.
Daniel Richman -- a law professor who prosecutors allege Comey authorized to leak information to the press -- told investigators that the former FBI director instructed him not to engage with the media on at least two occasions and unequivocally said Comey never authorized him to provide information to a reporter anonymously ahead of the 2016 election, the sources said.

Yeah, just enter the congressional testimony vs what the fibbie’s records show. Open-and-shut; he lied to congress.
Show me in Comey’s oath of office, and job description that he had the authority to leak info to the press about the President of the United States, and then lie about it?
told investigators
/
Sure, ok.
Now say the same thing UNDER OATH in court.
ABC just trying to muddy the waters in an attempt to help Comey. It won’t work, because the witness is stating nothing but hearsay which is not relevant in a court of law, at least notmaly.
ABC- any questions?
Predicted, it is all just a fictional play, None of it is real and the actors never get in trouble. Still zero convictions...
“… the former FBI director instructed him not to engage with the media on at least two occasions and unequivocally said Comey never authorized him to provide information to a reporter anonymously ahead of the 2016 election, the sources said.”
So, why did he give this law professor the info in the first place?
“ABC just trying to muddy the waters in an attempt to help Comey”
That is how I see it.
Demonrats have amazingly short memories. Many used to blame James Comey for Hillary Clinton’s loss, keeping her pay-for-play private email server scandal in the news near the election. Do they even remember their recent chant: “Nobody is above the law!”
ABC.
Always Been Comey.
Reporting information to a reporter anonymously would seem to Neto be an obviously complete waste of time since a reporter always needs verifiable information to satisfy journalistic standards and his editors. I would be wary of qualifiers in the professor’s statement such as “anonymously.” I do not think that the professor is saying what it may sound like he is saying…
Neto -> me to
… and how many times did he provide info to The NY Times other than when Comey gave him the info? If any other times, who supplied him with info on those times and what reporters did he contact?
Did he ever a conduit for info to their papers or other media?
(Typing ion an iPhone. …(
Did he ever act as a conduit for info to other papers or other media?
Let’s see ... he’s lying?

So he leaked to the law professor who leaked to the press. Did Comey tell Congress he shared classified information to outside people that ended up leaking it, he was basically asked? Why tell the law professor? Why did the law professor leak it if he told him not to? These people are lying.
PBS (June 8, 2017): Friend confirms he leaked Comey memo to NYT
A Columbia University law professor and close friend of former FBI director James Comey has confirmed he leaked contents of one of Comey’s memos to The New York Times.
Comey testified before the Senate intelligence committee on Thursday that he hoped the story about his interactions with President Donald Trump would prompt the appointment of a special counsel.
Daniel Richman confirmed to The Associated Press in an email that he was the friend who Comey mentioned in his testimony. He declined further comment.
Richman served with Comey in the Southern District of New York and at the FBI.
ABC News (June 13, 2017): Who is James Comey's friend and leaker Daniel Richman?
Excerpt:
The Columbia Law School professor leaked Comey's memos to the New York Times.
Daniel Richman is the Columbia Law School professor through whom former FBI Director James Comey shared details of his contemporaneous memos about meetings with President Donald Trump to the New York Times.
Speaking before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 8, Comey said he wanted to get a record of his meetings with President Donald Trump “out into the public square” so he decided to ask a friend to share the content of his memo with a reporter.
"Didn't do it myself, for a variety of reasons. But I asked him to, because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel. And so I asked a close friend of mine to do it," Comey told Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine). Collins asked who that was, and he responded, without providing a name, "A good friend of mine who’s a professor at Columbia Law School."
Richman, an adviser to Comey, confirmed to ABC News that he was the friend Comey was referring to during his testimony.
Politico (June 13, 2017): Comey associate says he turned over memos to the FBI
Excerpt:
A friend of James Comey says he has turned over copies of the former FBI director’s explosive memos — describing murky encounters with President Donald Trump — to the FBI, sidestepping a request by congressional committees to deliver the materials to Capitol Hill.
Daniel Richman, a Columbia University law professor who Comey identified last week as the go-between who helped disseminate the content of his memos to the press last month, said he is turning the materials over to the FBI, which is conducting a wide-ranging investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential elections.
CNN (July 10, 2017): Comey friend: No memos given to me were marked classified
Excerpt:
The Columbia University Law School professor and confidant of former FBI Director James Comey refuted a charge by President Donald Trump and his advocates in the media Monday: that Comey shared classified information with journalists.
Daniel Richman, with whom Comey shared at least one memo – the contents of which Richman shared with New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt – said President Trump was simply wrong.
“No memo was given to me that was marked ‘classified,’” Daniel Richman told CNN. “No memo was passed on to the Times.”
Richman did share the contents of one memo, he said, but “the substance of the memo passed on to the Times was not marked classified and to my knowledge remains unclassified.”
Comey's defense was that the leaked information was not classified. It now seems like they are denying that Comey asked for the information to be leaked at all. However, the reporting at the time says otherwise.

“You lie about it, and I’ll swear to it!”
Worked with a democrat who thought this was the funniest thing.

This guy. Pretty much explains Comey.
The prosecutors are afraid of career threatening/ending persecution if Dems back in charge, as happened to so many lawyers who offered services to Trump in the past. We’ve known for decades the legal profession was very much the tip of the Dems’ spear, along with the media. I cringe when I think of busloads of law students coming down from Yale Law School to support Kamala and Hirono against Kavanaugh , as they did.
