A new Tesla Model S Plaid caught fire on Tuesday while the driver was at the wheel, according to Charles McGarvey, chief fire officer for the Lower Merion Township Fire Department in Pennsylvania. The driver’s lawyers say he noticed smoke coming out of the back of the vehicle and had to force his way out of the car. Tesla began deliveries of the Model S Plaid, a new high-performance version of its flagship sedan, in June. Earlier, CEO Elon Musk said that deliveries would begin in February.

Call up Lord Helmet and Colonel Sanders, because Tesla's gone Plaid. Not one to go down without a fight, the new 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid aims to take on the 2021 Lucid Air Dream Edition and its 1,080 hp electric powertrain. With more than 1,100 horses produced from three electric motors (two at one axle and one more at the other), Tesla promises the most powerful iteration of its flagship sedan will hit 60 mph in less than two seconds and top out at 200 mph. The Air Dream Edition, meanwhile, sprints to 60 mph in less than 2.5...

A Tiburon man was arrested Monday on allegations he tried to run over a pedestrian because he didn't like his jacket, police said. Eugene Thomas Anderson, 31, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $50,000. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in downtown Tiburon, where police received numerous calls on a reckless driver on Tiburon Boulevard, said police Sgt. Steve Hahn. One caller reported a driver doing spinouts in the parking lot at the CVS pharmacy, and another reported a man who got out of a car in Belvedere and started throwing...

Poles in Scotland now have their own plaid EDINBURGH, Scotland, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The latest Scottish clan now has its own tartan with colors that include the red and white of the Polish flag and dark blue representing Scotland. "I want to buy a kilt because I am living in Scotland," Sebastian Flasza, owner of Rock and Roll Tattoo and Piercing in Edinburgh, told The Times of London. "But I am a Polish Scot. I feel this represents me. Oh, aye." Poland and Scotland have a long common history. Bonnie Prince Charlie, the ill-fated Stuart heir, was half-Polish, and...

Washington- Senate Judiciary Committee member Mike DeWine, who was mentioned by Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday as a potential Supreme Court pick, doesn't anticipate being nominated. "I'm on the short list, just the wrong short list," he joked. DeWine, an Ohio Republican, compared the intense public kibitzing over Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's successor to "watching the speculation for the next pope." Because O'Connor was a swing vote in many cases, DeWine said, whoever fills her slot could shape the court for years to come. He said he plans to scrutinize case decisions and writings of whomever Bush selects...
