Phil Donahue was more than a trailblazing talk show host, he was also a mainstay of Saturday Night Live. Donahue was one of the few non-political celebrities to be impersonated by three different SNL cast members. The first was Joe Piscopo, who embodied the host during a sketch that aired on Oct. 2, 1982. In the scene, Donahue negotiates peace in the Middle East between Israel’s Menachem Begin (played by Tim Kazurinsky) and Palestine’s Yasser Arafat (played by Gary Kroeger). Though topical, the sketch only generated minor laughs. Still, it established a formula for Donahue as a character, and his...

"In 1989 I took Rush Limbaugh's radio show off the air in St. Louis..." Jeff Long had his first "encounter" with Rush way back in the early days of his syndicated radio show. But there was more to come. Jeff would end up working in Rush's home town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He would meet Rush in person but there's more. And at the link below what Paul Harvey used to call on the radio "the rest of the story"... So many memories of Rush that for me include memories of the music that Rush loved. He would play songs...

Rush Limbaugh on Donahue, 1992 Rush did something to Phil no other guest had been able to do, make him shut up. Rush took the floor and ran with it, Phil just sat there with his mouth open and silent. Notice all the angry "NAGS" and feminazis in the audience.

It’s easy to see why the American Left loved Sami al-Arian. Leftists hate Israel, too. Longtime FrontPage readers will remember Sami Al-Arian, the former University of South Florida professor who for years was a darling of the Leftist intelligentsia. IPT News reported Monday that he has resurfaced, but that the stalwart old Jew-hater hasn’t changed: while he has reined in his rhetoric a bit and speaks in a more civilized manner, he is still calling for Israel’s destruction, which would result in the murder of millions of Jews. Back in 1991, during a speech in Chicago, al-Arian screamed: “The Quran...

In a 1981 interview on Today with Phil Donahue, a 39 year old Bernie Sanders says he is "not a capitalist." Sanders had just won his first term as Mayor of Burlington, Vermont. In explaining his case for Socialism he says, "Do I believe the profit motive is fundamental to human nature? The answer is no. I think the spirit of cooperation - that you and I can work together is better than compete against each other and destroy each other."

Former talk show host Phil Donahue appeared on MSNBC Wednesday morning to analyze the relationship between the media and President Trump. Donahue told the press to be "big boys and big girls" and not get in "the punching game" with Trump. Donahue said this all began in 2011 when the media made a joke out of Trump and now he is the one who is laughing "and giving them a middle finger." "The people who are beating up Trump are the people that are getting beat up by Trump will fall of their own weight," Donahue said. MSNBC host Stephanie...

RUSH: Okay, time for the audio sound bites of Phil Donahue. I promised this yesterday. We want to get to it. Donahue was on CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday with their media expert there, Little Brian Stelter. They’re talking about Trump’s presidency, and Stelter says, “Okay, Phil, what do you see out there? We’re five months into the Trump presidency. You’re not known for being a very conservative guy, Phil. What are your thoughts here? And have you spoken to Vladimir Posner lately? How’s he doing in Russia?” DONAHUE: The mainstream media is Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump. They haven’t drilled...

Have you ever had an old grand-uncle that you haven't seen in ages and that you have almost completely forgotten about suddenly show up from out of nowhere? His return quickly reminds you why you originally found him so annoying since he is still obsessed about the same grudges upon which he still continues expounding in an aimless manner. In this case it is former liberal talk show host Phil Donahue who appeared with Brian Stelter on his CNN Reliable Sources show on June 25. Yes, it was the same old by the numbers predictable liberal Phil and, of course,...

Today, July 31, 2012, would have been the great free-market economist Milton Friedman's 100th birthday. Below, is a series of interviews Friedman had on the Phil Donahue Show in 1979. Friedman repeatedly, in his customary polite demeanor, makes Donahue look like the Socialist fool that he is. I do have to credit Donahue, however, for allowing Friedman on his program to obliterate him. He's a little more tolerant than today's lefties in media. Watching these videos provides more plain, unadulterated, common-sense economic wisdom than most American universities today would provide over a four-year degree. Happy 100th Milton Friedman!...

Get a bunch of lefties together, mix liberally with wine, and the bombs start exploding. Public Citizen, the consumer group founded by Ralph Nader, gave its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award to Phil Donahue on Thursday night at the National Press Club. There were plenty of tributes for the talk show host, but it was impossible for the room full of pumped-up progressives to get through the evening without finding plenty of people to criticize -- including Barack Obama. "We have a president that many of us, particularly here on the left, we really want to cheer," investigative journalist Seymour Hersh...

Ralph Nader has been many things: lawyer, consumer-rights bulldog, political activist and perennial third-party presidential candidate. He has now added a new title to his business card: fiction writer. His latest book, Only the Super-Rich Can Save Us!, is a 700-page populist fantasy in which a small group of billionaires and media moguls — led by Warren Buffett and including Ted Turner, George Soros, Bill Cosby, Yoko Ono and Phil Donahue — pool their massive resources to reform the U.S. With the help of a $15 billion war chest and a p.r. campaign starring a talking parrot, the group successfully...
