A specially appointed federal panel of judges has dismissed all 83 ethics complaints brought against Justice Brett Kavanaugh regarding his conduct at his confirmation hearings. The judges concluded that while the complaints "are serious," there is no existing authority that allows lower court judges to investigate or discipline Supreme Court justices. The complaints against Kavanaugh ranged from allegations that he had misled the Senate about some of his activities in the George W. Bush White House to his angry, partisan statements in denying charges of sexual assault in high school.

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer secretly recorded Trump discussing payments to a former Playboy model who said she had an affair with him. The president’s current personal lawyer confirmed the conversation and said it showed Trump did nothing wrong, The New York Times reported Friday. ABC News and The Washington Post confirmed the report as well. Citing lawyers and others familiar with the recording, The Times said attorney Michael Cohen made the recording two months before Trump’s 2016 election. The newspaper said the FBI seized the recording during an April raid on Cohen’s office amid...

Elizabeth Lauten did something dopey. Say again, dopey. Criticizing President Obama’s children — daughters sixteen and thirteen — was dopey. Presidential children, particularly minor children, are generally considered to be off limits. Ms. Lauten, the communications director for Tennessee Congressman Stephen Lee Fincher, took a social media poke at the two and is today jobless as a result. There is a lesson in this for young conservatives. This is how the Left operates. What Lauten did, as mentioned, was dopey. Silly. But a front-page piece in the Washington Post? Breathless firestorm coverage from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, USA Today, Politico,...

Thom Hartmann ... and it was the unanimous decision of our judges! (cue applause) Alas, Hartmann will be unable to accept the award in person, seeing how the ceremony conflicted with the next round of his strictly monitored medication schedule ... (Audio after the jump). What exactly did Hartmann say to win such a prestigious honor? Listen here but consider yourself warned, you may want to first ingest iodine as protection from the radiation (h/t for audio,...

Last night, President Obama and Eric Cantor exchanged harsh words over the debt ceiling, and on the Senate floor just now, Harry Reid uncorked a harsh attack on Cantor that suggests Dems are embarking on a new strategy: Isolating Cantor as the new public face of GOP intransigence.

Here is what Sarah said last year: "Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice. Over the past nine months I've been accused of all sorts of frivolous ethics violations - such as holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters' questions. - July 3 2009 SARAH PALIN Now looking at her "NEW" Legal Defense Fund - I notice something, this from her people saying that the MSM is ignoring the truth, that in part they DON'T want you to...

Democrats are looking for someone to blame for their electoral woes — and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Robert Menendez is working hard to make sure it’s not him. Showing that they’ve learned the lesson of Massachusetts, Menendez and his staff will distribute a memo Tuesday advising Democratic campaign managers to frame their opponents early — and to drive a wedge between moderate voters and tea-party-style conservatives. “Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical — yet time-sensitive — opportunity for Democratic candidates,” the DSCC writes. “We have a finite window...

Some readers have asked if -- with the release of topless photos and now a solo sex tape -- conservatives, or Christians, or conservative Christians, should consider former Miss California Carrie Prejean a role model. The question strikes me as off-base, a hybrid of the cult of hero worship and the 24/7 media's information overload. The underlying issue in the Prejean case is not -- or at least, it has never been for me -- one of the pageant (near-)winner’s character or admirability. It's a simple matter of the Left's aggressive politicization of every aspect of life, including beauty...

UPDATE: KMJ News has learned that Republican Assemblyman Mike Duvall has been stripped of his position as vice-chair of the Utilities and Commerce Committee. GOP Assemblyman Mike Duvall didn't realize he was sitting near an open microphone earlier this summer when he decided to divulge dirty details about his sexual escapades to a colleague before the start of a committee hearing. "KCAL-9" reporter Dave Lopez broke the story Tuesday after obtaining the video of Duvall discussing his sexual affairs. Duvall can be heard telling the man that one woman "...showed up in her underwear...", one day after he and...

The "tolerant" proponents of homosexual marriage, following the hateful lead of homosexual, Perez Hilton and the likes of anti-Christian bigot Keith Olbermann of MSNBC, have had their fun bashing Miss California, Carrie Prejean. For simply stating the obvious truth that marriage ought to be between a man and a woman, Carrie has been unjustly slandered, insulted and ridiculed. "By courageously shining the light of God's truth on the marriage issue, now homosexuals and their allies irrationally seek to defame and destroy Carrie Prejean," said Dr. Gary Cass, Chairman and CEO of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. "Perez Hilton, 'queen of all...

Now that Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. has been named the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, some on the far-left are gunning for Alabama's junior senator. The battle is happening as President Barack Obama is on the verge of naming an appointee to the Supreme Court to fill void of Justice David Souter. Some of the left-wing points that suggest Sessions has racist tendencies were incorporated into a May 6 Politico story by John Bresnahan and Manu Raju. "By elevating Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions to their top spot on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Republicans have selected their chief inquisitor for...

MSNBC prides itself as being the place for politics, the seemingly clever marketing slogan could be used to describe the network as the place where hosts try to use dirty humor about important political events. David Shuster, filling in for MSNBC loose-cannon Keith Olbermann on his April 13 broadcast, and his writers probably thought they were pretty clever when they pieced an item denigrating the tax protests by using the sexual term “teabagging.” Urbandictionary.com, cited multiple times by one MSNBC guest, describes it as when a man places his testicles “onto someone’s face, or into their mouth.” “For most Americans,...

Since Alaska governor Sarah Palin was named John McCain's running mate, her foes and various Alaskan liberals have begun a new exercise, attempting to bankrupt the Palin family through legal fees, by filing endless ethics complaints against her. In her term, ten ethics complaints and 150 FOIA requests have been filed. (One of the complaints, about improperly firing her state public-safety commissioner, predates her national prominence.) While holding elected officials accountable is laudable, most of the matters are beyond trivial. One of the complaints against her was for talking to reporters about the presidential campaign while she was in the...

The effort within the McCain campaign’s upper ranks to pin Sen. John McCain’s loss of the presidential election on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is now in full swing, and Fox News’ Carl Cameron eagerly plays the gossip columnist. On “Fox Report” last night with Shephard Smith, Cameron said he learned during the campaign that many within the McCain team were concerned that Palin “lacked the degree of knowledgeability” to be a heartbeat away from the presidency — but agreed not to report the details until the after the election.

Like much of the mainstream media, CNN anchor Jack Cafferty has set aside any pretense of objectivity in this year's presidential election. On today's Situation Room he used a "Cafferty File" segment, in which a question is posed to viewers for their response, to attack GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. He prefaced the question: But McCain chose Sarah Palin, who immediately became a national joke to everybody, except the conservative base of the Republican Party. Even some Republicans are convinced the Palin selection showed a total lack of judgment on McCain's part. Oh, what about Florida Governor Charlie Crist?...
