LONDON (AFP) - British teenagers are among the worst behaved in Europe, a study by a leading think-tank said Thursday, blaming government policy failures for high levels of fighting, binge drinking, drug taking and under-age sex. The centre-left Institute for Public Policy Research, favoured by former prime minister Tony Blair, said young Britons were left to their own devices through successive policy failures. The report -- "Freedom's Orphans: Raising Youth in a Changing World" -- was published as the government announced a new 184-million-pound (275-million-euro, 378-million-dollar) 10-year strategy for young people. It will be supplemented by cash from bank accounts...

Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri has vetoed a "medical marijuana" bill, saying it would encourage marijuana use and criminal activity. His veto comes as an anti-drug group has released dramatic video footage of a marijuana activist declaring that he uses dope for a health problem that he doesn't really have. The bottom line for this activist, Ed Rosenthal, is that "I like to get high. Marijuana is fun." The video has the potential of dealing a major blow to the "medical marijuana" movement, largely funded by billionaire George Soros. The video footage, posted at the website http://www.sorosmonitor.com, gives the...

Geraldo Rivera's mustache is safe. The television personality had pledged to shave it off if Michael Jackson had been found guilty of child molestation. Geraldo had nothing to fear. A California jury acquitted O.J. Simpson of murder, so why should it hold Michael Jackson accountable for molesting children? Maybe Michael can now help O.J. search for the "real killer." Cable TV went berserk. The predictions were mostly wrong and the analysis was idiotic. One of O.J. Simpson's attorneys, Robert Shapiro, predicted on CNN that the jury would convict Jackson. Legal analyst Wendy Murphy confidently prophesied to Fox's Shepard Smith, "I...

Watch out for 'Playboyism' - William F. Buckley December 19, 2003 Rush Limbaugh was talking about religion as also, that very day, Sean Hannity. One day earlier Christie Hefner was celebrating the 50th anniversary of Playboy. Rush said listen to this, folks, Catholic voters tended over the years to go Democratic, but there has been a slide toward the GOP in recent elections, and one-third of U.S. Catholics are now thought of as swing voters. That means — Limbaugh discussed the point with a guest — that state and court action on the matter of gay marriage will certainly affect...

Part 1 Valerie Pegues heard Concerned Women for America President Sandy Rios present the hope of the Gospel to lesbian activist Tammy Bruce on Concerned Women Today last April. That prompted Valerie to contact us. She desired to tell the story of her deliverance from lesbianism in which, interestingly, Christian radio played a part. This lifestyle consumed her for 16 years, until she met Jesus Christ and experienced total deliverance through Him. Pamela Wong, director of publications for CWA, interviewed Val, and here is Part 1 of her story. Read the conclusion in the July 17 edition of Culture &...

POPE WARNS OF "A TRUE CONSPIRACY AGAINST LIFE AND FAMILY" Says Bishops are "the first ones called to be untiring teachers of the Gospel of life" VATICAN, March 31, 2003 - Pope John Paul II addressed the Bishops of Indonesia Saturday during their 'ad limina' visit to Rome. Addressing life and family issues, the Pope said, "A true 'conspiracy against life' and the family is appearing in many forms: abortion, sexual permissiveness, pornography, drug abuse and pressures to adopt morally unacceptable methods of population control." The Pope then challenged the Bishops saying, "Notwithstanding the difficulties involved in countering these tendencies...
