FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California and members of a university peace group filed information requests with the FBI and the Fresno County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday after learning that undercover officers attended a student lecture. University officials acknowledged that three campus police officers and three Fresno County Sheriff's deputies attended a November 2004 talk by animal rights activist Gary Yourofsky at California State University, Fresno. The students and the civil rights organization filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the FBI and a Public Records Act request with the Fresno County Sheriff's...

The November lecture featured Gary Yourofsky, an activist who has served jail time for freeing animals, talking about how to be a vegan. "This kind of monitoring is wrong and it's sneaky," said Ruth Obel-Jorgensen, president of Campus Peace and Civil Liberties. "Even when you are doing nothing wrong, it makes you feel like you are, just to know someone is watching you." A student peace group claims two undercover law enforcement officers attended a lecture it sponsored, violating California's ban against covert monitoring of political, religious, social or educational meetings without proof of a past or planned crime. I and a couple of other Ventura County Freepers are going back to school next week. We are taking some political science classes and starting up a chapter of David Horowitz's Students for Academic Freedom. I know some of the professors at the local community college are involved with a Santa Barbara peace group called Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. I'm trying to get some background information on them - I read their material and it is very anti-Bush and very pro-U.N. As stated on their website "The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan international education and advocacy organization....

17 members of the Cayuga Coalition for "Peace" met this evening at 7:00pm. What they weren't expecting was a FReeper to show up. I walked in at 7:03 and seventeen people were seated around a table with a what looked like Natasha KGB typing at a laptop. A woman i'll call "commy#1" was stating "Saturday March 8th at the Islamic Society". The man,(commy#2), sitting next to her cut her off and the place went silent as I found a comfy old Victorian near the back of the room. They were all looking at me as I sat down and took...
