KENOSHA, Wis. — Protests in Kenosha over the police shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, were mostly peaceful following the arrest of a 17-year-old police admirer accused of killing two people and wounding a third during a chaotic night of demonstrations and unrest. As of early Thursday, there were no groups patrolling with long guns as there were during previous nights of protests over the Sunday shooting of Blake, who was left paralyzed. Protesters also stayed away from a courthouse that had been the site of standoffs with law enforcement.

Marquise Damarius Asomani of Charlotte, North Carolina was arrested on Tuesday for shooting at a crowd of Trump supporters gathered on an interstate overpass Monday evening. The crowd, which included children were gathered on the Sutton Road overpass in Fort Mill, South Carolina waving flags when 23-year-old Asomani drove by, stuck his arm out the window and opened fire on the group.

Protesters for the second consecutive night wreaked havoc in Kenosha, Wisconsin — setting fires to buildings and facing off with authorities over the police shooting of Jacob Blake. In defiance of an 8 p.m. curfew, the crowd set ablaze a furniture store, a building that houses the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and cars at a local dealership, according to footage posted to social media. Shelby Talcott, a reporter for The Daily Caller, posted a video to Twitter of the furniture store fully engulfed in flames

A night of unrest in Madison, Wisconsin, left two statues destroyed, windows smashed and a Democratic state senator hospitalized after he was attacked by a group of protesters near the state Capitol. State Sen. Tim Carpenter said he had been heading into work late Tuesday when he stopped to take a video of protesters gathered outside the Capitol. ‘I don’t know what happened … all I did was stop and take a picture … and the next thing I’m getting five-six punches, getting kicked in the head,’ Carpenter, 60, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
