Apple could see one of its leading products barred from being imported into the United States sometime around Christmas unless the White House steps in or a patent dispute is resolved. The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled last week that specific models of the Apple Watch breach patents held by the medical gadget designer Masimo. The company now has 60 days either to resolve the matter or face an outright ban. The current patent series, as they stand, only apply to Apple Watch models from the Series 6,7, 8, and 9 collections since they contain the medical trackers that appear...

Apple’s smart watch could be banned from being imported into the United States after the federal government ruled that it violated a company’s patent, according to a report. Certain models of the Apple Watch are in violation of a patent that was issued to Masimo, a medical tech firm that created a sensory device that measures blood oxygen levels. The US International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Masimo on Thursday and determined that Apple was indeed in violation of a patent, according to The Wall Street Journal. President Joe Biden’s administration will have 60 days to decide whether to...

The Biden administration quietly inserted itself into a private patent infringement lawsuit two biotech companies filed against COVID-19 vaccine maker Moderna, in a move experts said could establish a dangerous precedent. In a surprise filing last month, U.S. Attorney David Weiss issued a "statement of interest" in the case on behalf of the Department of Defense and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), invoking a rarely-used early 1900s law to argue that the federal government should take on any liability for patent infringement Moderna may be guilty of related to the development of its COVID-19 vaccine. "Where, as here,...

Here we go again. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has denied Trump’s request to trademark the name Truth Social. CBS News reported: "A U.S. government agency has rejected a trademark application by Donald Trump’s Truth Social because the social network’s name isn’t unique enough. In a filing from August 2, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said Truth Social’s name is too similar to other businesses, which could cause consumers to be “confused, mistaken or deceived as to the commercial source of the goods and/or services of the parties.”" The reason cited is that the name is not unique...

Russia has effectively legalized patent theft from anyone affiliated with countries “unfriendly” to it, declaring that unauthorized use will not be compensated. McDonald’s said Tuesday that it would temporarily close its 850 restaurants in Russia, a significant decision for a company that gets 9 percent of its revenue from Russia and Ukraine. Without trademark protections, Russia could “take those McDonald’s that got shut down and … just let local operators operate the restaurants and call them McDonald’s,” Gerben said. Russia’s removal of intellectual property protections during wartime is not without precedent. Smithsonian Magazine describes how the German company Bayer lost...

A Sydney gastroenterologist who has been enthusiastically promoting an unapproved Covid-19 treatment, including to Australian politicians and general practitioners, has filed a patent in the US for the same treatment, allowing him to commercialise and profit from it, if approved. Prof Thomas Borody has been quoted in medical newsletters and publications, and in news outlets including the Financial Review, the Daily Telegraph and the Australian, promoting what he describes as a “triple therapy protocol” to treat and cure Covid-19. The protocol involves a combination of the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin, zinc and the antibiotic doxycycline. In December 2020 Borody filed a...

Dr. Anthony Fauci’s name appears on four U.S patents for a key glycoprotein that seems to have been inserted into the SARS virus to create COVID-19. Justia.com, a legal portal, lists patents by inventor Anthony Fauci involving a glycoprotein in HIV-1. This same glycoprotein, identified as Glycoprotein 120, or simply as GP120, has also been found to be a key component of the current COVID-19, a disease that appears to combine a HIV-1 attack on the human immune system, with SARS CoV-1, the pathogen from the original SARS Medical scientists in India reported four intersections in the spike glycoprotein that...

As the walls are closing in on those who’ve attempted to deflect, discredit, and ignore the evidence over the last 18 months that SARS-CoV-2 was engineered at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a few legacy media organizations are starting to report what we’ve reported for a few months and bringing the receipts – sort of.As the New York Post reported on June 4 (and which RedState’s Scott Hounsell elaborated on later), a Chinese military scientist named Zhou Yusen filed for a patent for a coronavirus vaccine on behalf of the People’s Liberation Army in February 2020, only five weeks after...

Pharmaceutical companies have come to the world’s rescue with Covid-19 vaccines, but these days no good deed by business goes unpunished. The Biden Administration is now under pressure to support a political campaign to break vaccine patents. India and South Africa last fall petitioned the World Trade Organization to suspend intellectual property protections on Covid vaccines and treatments, which they say is necessary to expand global access. Fifty-five other countries plus an army of nonprofiits and labor unions have joined the attempted heist. “Multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical companies continue to prioritize profits by protecting their monopolies,” Bernie Sanders says. Adds Connecticut Rep....

After appearing for decades in science fiction, then moving into an actual theory, a new patent for an updated warp drive was published last year to no fanfare. Like many other false starts in cutting-edge research, the patent may represent the next step in the expanding theory, or it could mean the practical, real-world design of a functioning warp drive is on the horizon. BACKGROUND: HOW TO BEND SPACE-TIME WITH A WARP DRIVE After first publishing his groundbreaking 1994 warp drive concept in the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity, Mexican Mathematician and Physicist Miguel Alcubierre received significant positive and negative...

The U.S. Navy has patents on weird and little understood technology. According to patents filed by the Navy, it is working on a compact fusion reactor that could power cities, an engine that works using “inertial mass reduction,” and a “hybrid aerospace-underwater craft.” Dubbed the “UFO patents, The War Zone has reported that the Navy had to build prototypes of some of the outlandish tech to prove it worked. Dr. Salvatore Cezar Pais is the man behind the patents and The War Zone has proven the man exists, at least on paper. Pais has worked for a number of different...

Moderna lost a patent case on Thursday that had been all but overlooked as the stock surged on excitement around the company’s Covid-19 vaccine, which is set to be tested in a large Phase 3 trial beginning next week. What the decision handed down Thursday by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board could mean for Moderna (ticker: MRNA) isn’t yet clear, but the stock fell 9.5% on Thursday, and was down another 5% Friday in premarket trading. “This legal dispute has been an ongoing debate among investors, and today’s decision is a disappointing turn for MRNA,” wrote SVB Leerink analyst...

The Wuhan Institute of Virology, part of the China Academy of Sciences, has applied to patent the use of Gilead Sciences’ remdesivir to treat the current coronavirus outbreak. The company has partnered with Chinese health authorities to run a Phase III clinical trial to assess remdesivir for treatment of the virus. The drug was originally developed to treat the Ebola virus, but wasn’t effective. Preclinical assays have suggested that the drug might be effective against the coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, as was published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). The drug was given to a U.S. patient for compassionate use...

We have an effective therapy, have had it since before 2009. Fauci begged to use HCQ during the MERS outbreak in 2009. Now we have SARS-2, the Wuhan Boogaloo. We have a MOUNTAIN of empirical evidence that HCQ/Zinc is prophylactic and HCQ/Zinc/Antibiotic is a therapy for the infected. Remdesivir is tested on 125 people with good results (and two deaths), but NOW there's hope? Sorry, smells horrible.

China has applied to patent a drug candidate being developed by Gilead Sciences as the government rushes to find the cure for the deadly coronavirus, a move that could raise questions on intellectual property and marketing rights. The state-backed Institute of Virology in Wuhan filed the patent for using remdesivir to fight the novel coronavirus on January 21, according to a statement posted on its website two weeks later on February 4. If approved, the drug will be used to facilitate its potential global market entry, it added. Studies have been conducted outside the human bodies and found that Gilead’s...

Apparently a patent (Number 10130701) for the Coronavirus was filed in July of 2015 by the Pirbright Institute (Bill Gates). If I'm reading the form correctly the patent was awarded in November of 2018. I'd like to think that this is not the same variant that is spreading to humans, but found it interesting that people were actually working on this. No conspiracy, just thought I'd share a bit of information. Coronavirus Patent
