Pharmaceutical companies have come to the world’s rescue with Covid-19 vaccines, but these days no good deed by business goes unpunished. The Biden Administration is now under pressure to support a political campaign to break vaccine patents.
India and South Africa last fall petitioned the World Trade Organization to suspend intellectual property protections on Covid vaccines and treatments, which they say is necessary to expand global access. Fifty-five other countries plus an army of nonprofiits and labor unions have joined the attempted heist.
“Multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical companies continue to prioritize profits by protecting their monopolies,” Bernie Sanders says. Adds Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro : “We need to make the public policy choices both in the U.S. and at the WTO that puts patients first.”...

Couldn’t care less. The biotech industry pushed the cause and the need for this “vaccine”. And they want it to be mandatory. They need to rip their mouth away from the government teat before they lecture us about the sanctity of profits, patents, and capitalism.
India has its own vaccine, I think it is called Covaxin. They say it is safe for children.
In any case, if these other countries wanted to and felt it was a national emergency they could just steal the formulas and vaccinate their populations. Arguing about the legalities can come later.
Jonas Salk gave his Polio vaccine away basically for free. No patent. He could have made billions but that wasn’t his purpose.
Politicians giving away our technology though... again. This is an example of why our drugs are so expensive.
The days of that kind of humanitarianism are gone for good.
