Democrats lie about intelligence- they have none. Dumber than chickens and twice as smelly, Becky and Sean are back to explain the Democratic Praty platform with the psychological confusion and torsion of logic that has become their trademark. Here's an excerpt (the full is long, FYI): Remember the debates? It says here that Bush was wearing an earpiece and receiving messages from Karl Rove!” Becky was getting excited. She might even update her blog. “Isn’t he dead?” “No, that’s Karl Marx. Karl Rove is that guy from TEXAS who runs Bush’s life from BEHIND THE SCENES.” Now Sean understood. Rove...

With military casualties exceeding 1000 and so apparent end in sight to the insurgency, it’s understandable that even the most hawkish among us may be having doubts about the war, and perhaps second-guessing supporting the war in the first place. But make no mistake, this was not an elective war....The fact is that prior to the 2003 invasion, the situation in Iraq was completely untenable and highly unstable. In late 1996, France had withdrawn its participation in no-fly zone enforcement, saying that its humanitarian aspects had been eliminated. It was only a matter of time before the U.N. grew tired...

The documents are fake. Unless you are Dan Rather, you know it with a near certainty. So now for the interesting questions. Who faked these documents? What is their origin? Who gave them to CBS? Dan Rather knows, because the identity of the source would reveal it the answers. So who is CBS protecting? Let’s run down the possible suspects: • Kerry campaign, with or without Kerry’s personal knowledge • Bush Campaign • CBS Itself • Lt. Col. Killian or His Secretary • Team Hillary 2008 • Gore 2000 Campaign • John McCain, or a McCain Supporter without McCain’s Knowledge...

I've run through the four possible scenarios in this document story here. Because it's unlikely that the documents are authentic, i.e. written in 1972/1973 by Killian, or his secretary, then CBS has at least breached journalistic ethics by running a true story based on bogus documents, or at the worst participated in libelling the president. The full article addressed the subject in greater detail, but consider this: If Killian himself had written those document well after 1973 based on his memory of events from 1973, then there still should never have been a story, because Killian may have remembered things...

A new book proposes regulating drug prices to limit the profits from greedy drug companies. The problem is that if you regulate the prices, no one is going to invent the drugs. In the book, she concludes, through some attenuated convolution of post-Marxist platitudes, that drug companies are “bad” because they made a lot of money developing pharmaceuticals to treat your ailments. But why won’t these people go on the record now and advocate restricting the prices and patent rights for future drugs? Why won’t they just say “We believe cancer medication should cost no more than $X per month.”...

Bush skipped out on his National Guard duty. He also snorted coke, and was a drunk. I don’t care. He is defeating fascist Islam, and that’s all that matters. CBS is running a story showing that Bush missed some of his National Guard duty. Let me cut to the chase and spare you the spin. Let’s say that Bush skipped all of his National Guard duty, that he never even put on the uniform once. Hell, let’s say he torched his draft card and moved to Canada from 1968-1974. It doesn’t matter at all. Bush is not running on his...

From Pastabagel.comMoqtada Al Sadr, the religious zealot behind the uprisings in Iraq, needs to go. And by “go” I mean to jail forever, or straight to hell. Whichever. Because if Al Sadr is still walking the Earth a free man in January, he will either become the legitimately elected ruler of Iraq, or its kingmaker. As bad as things are now, if Al Sadr isn’t gone by the time Iraqi elections are held in January, the situation there is going to get a lot worse. We could end up losing the war in Iraq, which in turn could become an...

They’re back. The Ballad of Becky and Sean continues as our erstwhile twentysomethings take on Fahrenheit 911, the political conventions, and people who are just plain MEAN. "Becky’s STEPDAD was going to vote Republican because he drove an SUV and wore SUITS to THE OFFICE. And her STEPDAD was WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING and HE NEVER LISTENS. She wasn’t going to vote Republican, no way. “You can’t make me if I don’t want to,” she thought. Becky and Sean thought the Democratic convention was cool, because it talked about HEALTHCARE and how OIL was being shed for BLOOD. Or maybe it...

Polls released Sunday showed the president with a double digit lead over Kerry among likely voters. In technical political terms this is the hunting season, i.e. the season where Kerry’s political staffers start hunting for new jobs. Because unless John Kerry is Demosthenes, he’s not going to make up a 10% deficit in the debates. How did this happen? It’s simple enough to understand. The republicans put a heck of a show, lining up Schwarzenegger and Giuliani on consecutive nights, and then driving the point home with excellent speeches by Cheney and Bush. The message was that its good to...

“So much testosterone, it scared me!” Those are the words of a female caller on C-SPAN this morning, describing last night’s Republican Convention...Read moreTestosterone? This isn’t the crowd lunacy of a Cowboys-Eagles post-season matchup at Philadelphia. It’s a political speech...Read moreWhat she saw was dynamism, power, and conviction. Those are traditionally masculine traits that are sorely lacking in today’s romantic comedy/low-fat yougurt society, and especially in the democratic party. Everyone is expected to be a neurotic, self-obsessed mess, struggling their whole adult life with “issues” based on the lunch table they sat at in middle school. So while she said...

There is no single issue that is as much a loser for Republicans than the facts of Kerry’s service in Vietnam, but it’s not for the reasons that you think. In fact, reason plays no part in it at all. Vietnam is about feelings, and all of them negative. Rage, sadness, loss, frustration, cynicism, distrust, paranoia. And on issues of feelings, Democrats win every time...Read on

Sometimes you have to pay attention to people you disgree with, because often they will demonstrate why they are wrong better than you ever could. This morning on C-SPAN, Brian Lamb interview retired columnist Jack Germond. The interview is notable only in that it is a distillation of modern American liberalism rarely displayed so openly in the media. But even when it is not on display as blatantly as it was with Germond, you can rest assured it’s there. Germond went on at length about his atheism, the decline of political discourse, and how much he disapproves of President Bush....
