President Donald Trump suggested Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf should reopen Pa. faster amid the coronavirus pandemic but otherwise avoided political commentary related to the state during a stop in Allentown on Thursday. Trump’s remarks, which also hit on many of the topics his campaign rallies typically do -- including digs at the media and presumed Democratic Presidental candidate Joe Biden, comments on the strength of America’s military, and complaints about what he inherited from the Obama administration -- came following a tour of the Owens & Minor Company, which is a medical supplies distributor. It marked the President’s first trip...

A failed impeachment attempt, a stable economy and a fractured field of Democratic candidates appear to have given President Trump a boost in Pennsylvania as the presidential election race heats up. A new Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll shows Trump doing better against potential Democratic rivals than he did in a similar poll three months earlier, especially in potential matchups with former Vice President Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Only Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders maintained a slight lead over the president in hypothetical matchups. But even there, Trump gained ground. Biden and Warren were tied with Trump, while South...

"It is said that the people are revolting." "You said it! They stink on ice!" Substitute "deplorables" for "people" and you have the attitude of not only "the resistance" in western Pennsylvania desperately trying but failing to convert Trump supporters but of Campbell Robertson in his New York Times article which chronicled the futility of their efforts. It is obvious upon reading the article that liberal political conversion therapy is just not working. You get the sense of the futile nature of their task by reading the Thursday article title, "In Trump Country, the Resistance Meets the Steel Curtain," as well as the...

Doors open at 3 p.m. Trump is expected to begin speaking at 7 p.m., according to the campaign. Vice President Mike Pence also is scheduled to attend as the campaign offers a rare double bill which likely reflects the tight race expected in Pennsylvania and it’s role as a key battleground state.

Several groups that often are at odds over environmental rules are on the same side when it comes to easing methane regulations at oil and gas sites. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection joined major oil and gas companies, environmental groups and lawmakers from both parties last week in urging the Trump administration not to go through with its proposal to eliminate methane control requirements from well sites and pipelines across the country. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to roll back rules adopted in 2016 that require companies to identify and stop methane leaks from new and modified...

They may not be featured on television a lot, but there are some Democrats who know Donald Trump can still win in 2020. It’s too early to take 2020 election polls seriously, the Trump approval polls aren’t reliable, and when the 2020 Democratic agenda is added into the mix—the picture is very different. Until 2016, Pennsylvania was a state that hadn’t gone Republican since 1988. The Philly suburbs and Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) have long held the strings statewide. Trump split with Hillary 49/49 in Bucks County, one of the key collar counties, which was enough to keep the wave...

President Trump is slated to hold a campaign rally in Pennsylvania next month as he seeks to keep the Keystone State in his column in next year's election. The event is set to take place on Dec. 10 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa., the Trump campaign announced Thursday. The center contains 10,500 seats. “Pennsylvania is booming thanks to President Trump and jobs are coming back to the state,” Michael Glassner, the Trump campaign’s chief operating officer, said in a statement. “President Trump is delivering on his promises, and he looks forward to celebrating those successes with the great...

Pennsylvania is not a slam-dunk for Donald Trump's reelection campaign. That's one takeaway from Tuesday's elections, which turned the Philadelphia suburbs even bluer, as Republicans suffered additional congressional losses following last year's midterms. The Democrats have gone from a 13-5 minority in the House to a 9-9 split. These results in the eastern part of the state "are not helpful to Trump's reelection prospects in Pennsylvania," said Jeff Brauer, political science professor at Keystone College. "The big question will be the extent of enthusiasm of his nonsupporters in the state," Brauer added. "If that outweighs his base support, that will...

As President Trump's speech at the Shale Insight Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday noted, Joe Biden's mythical claim that Trump inherited a booming economy from President Obama falls flat in the face of the reality that this is Trump's economy, fueled by deregulation, tax cuts, cutting of EPA shackles, and a booming energy industry allowed to use the latest technology to free a seemingly endless supply of oil and natural gas from the earth under our feet. The conference was staged by some very appreciative energy groups such as the Marcellus Shale Coalition, the Ohio Oil and Gas Association,...

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — President Donald Trump is making his 14th trip to Pennsylvania tomorrow. Wednesday’s visit to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center is for the Marcellus Shale Coalition’s conference. His return appearance at the conference in Pittsburgh is an official event, but it is reminiscent of his campaign stop here three years ago. “They tell me that a Republican can’t carry the state of Pennsylvania. Wait until they see what happens here,” said candidate Trump back then. “Wait’ll you see. I think we’re going to have a big, big victory right here.” As a political prognosticator, President Trump was...

Ruth Moore, 60, was holding her 13-month-old granddaughter Addy to board the shuttle bus to attend the Trump rally. Moore said she happily voted for Trump in 2016; her sister Robin Beilman, 58, not so much. “I didn’t vote for Hillary either; I just didn’t vote,” said Beilman, who works in a nearby factory making Pop-Tarts. “At first I didn’t like how he conducted himself; I still always don’t, but what I have come to realize is that if you want to get tough things done, you don’t get them done by being nice,” she said. Now Trump has earned...

A major super PAC aligned with POTUS Donald Trump has identified six key states the president will need in order to secure his reelection next year. According to America First Action, those states are Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan, The Daily Caller reported. No doubt whatever crazy the Democrats nominate, that candidate will win the deep blue enclaves of California and New York, and may even be able to pull off a majority of votes again (though that is looking less and less likely).

Out Pennsylvania representative Brian Sims opened up on Instagram about his own use of PrEP, the highly effective prescription that prevents HIV. Alongside a picture of a Truvada pill, the state lawmaker wrote about pre-exposure prophylaxis, but made clear he had no interest in discussing why he personally uses the treatment. “Starting this day off smart, proactive, and in control!” Sims wrote in his social media post. “Think this is an invite to talk about my sex life? It’s not. Think it’s an invite to shame me or anyone else? Grow up.”

Pennsylvania State Rep. Brian Sims (D-Philadelphia) took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that he takes Truvada. Truvada is a form of pre-exposure prophylaxis — or PrEP — taken to avoid contracting HIV, and is more than 99% effective at reducing transmission of the virus. The outspoken, openly gay Sims urged others to consider PrEP as a form of prevention, writing on Facebook: “Starting this day off smart, proactive, and in control! How about you? #PrEPsavesLIVES.”

Former U.S. Attorney Patrick Meehan (R), who was running for governor of Pennsylvania in 2010, has begun making calls and telling supporters that he will run for the open 7th district seat instead, according to a GOP source in the Keystone State. Meehan’s campaign released a statement Friday afternoon announcing his departure from the gubernatorial race. “Pat is more committed than ever to helping return Pennsylvania to a path of prosperity, and he is now seriously considering a run for congress in the Seventh Congressional District to fulfill that commitment,’’ his spokeswoman said in a statement. Meehan’s move dramatically boosts...
