OAKLAND — As anti-Wall Street protesters attempt to regroup and settle in for winter after a series of police raids that stripped much of the movement of its signature camps, protesters on the West Coast are staging a comeback. On Dec. 12, Occupy movements from Seattle to San Diego say they will shut down their local ports, temporarily stopping the flow of capital on the West Coast. Organizers say they aim to disrupt the business of the “1 percent” — in this case, the corporations that own shipping terminals and do business at the ports. If successful, shutting down the...

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police believe that some protesters inside the Occupy Portland encampments are building shields and makeshift weapons -- including nails hammered into wood -- in preparation for when authorities attempt to clear the parks this weekend, police said Friday. Occupy Portland organizers have repeatedly said the movement is nonviolent and have appealed to demonstrators to resist peacefully when the camps close at midnight on Saturday. They planned public marches and a potluck dinner before the deadline and hoped the public would take part. But police said as many as 150 anarchists may come to Portland to take...

Four Occupy Boston demonstrators were arraigned in Boston Municipal Court today following their arrests Saturday on charges ranging from disorderly conduct to stealing a police bicycle. Langston Peace, 29, of Boston was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when he allegedly walked off with an officer’s bike during a march in Downtown Crossing. Peace was charged with larceny over $250 and is due back in court on Dec. 14.
  • Occupiers poach homeless services

Occupy Boston has been encouraging protesters to take showers, hot meals and shelter meant for the homeless, prompting a St. Francis House manager to ask the downtown campers to remove directions from their Internet newspaper. The online publication that calls itself “Occupy Boston Globe” posts meal times and shower hours at St. Francis House on Boylston Street, which runs on private donations and state and federal funding.

OAKLAND -- Work crews and employees of trashed buildings in downtown Oakland set to work this morning cleaning up from the post-midnight riot that broke out after Occupy Oakland's daylong general strike. Graffiti was spray-painted on many buildings along Broadway from 14th to 16th streets, where masked vandals shattered windows and threw objects at police. Officers responded by firing tear gas and flash-bang grenades and making dozens of arrests. ... At the Men's Wearhouse, which had closed Wednesday and put up signs in support of the general strike, windows were shattered. A box nearby read, "Cop uniform surrender box." No...

Lee Stranahan and Brandon Darby have released the latest video clip from their visit to Occupy Wall Street. In the video, an activist named Channing, who has been at the Occupy Wall Street protests from the beginning, volunteers the information that the former ACORN organization–through its new front group, New York Communities for Change–is paying $10 per hour and $100 per day to homeless people to attend the demonstrations. She suggests that ACORN’s involvement is unwelcome, alleging that its homeless employees are “being paid to come here and mess things up.” Channing’s information corroborates reporting by Big Government on ACORN’s...

Officials with the revamped ACORN office in New York -- operating as New York Communities for Change -- have fired staff, shredded reams of documents and told workers to blame disgruntled ex-employees for leaking information in an effort to explain away a FoxNews.com report last week on the group’s involvement in Occupy Wall Street protests, according to sources. NYCC also is installing surveillance cameras and recording devices at its Brooklyn offices, removing or packing away supplies bearing the name ACORN and handing out photos of Fox News staff with a stern warning not to talk to the media, the sources...

How very curious:   A sign that the Occupy Wall Street movement isn’t the best long-term vehicle for Democrats to connect themselves with: A new Quinnipiac poll, showing a plurality of voters viewing the group unfavorably.  The poll, released today, show 30 percent of voters surveyed view the movement favorably, 39 percent unfavorably, with an additional 30 percent not hearing enough to have an opinion.  It’s one of the first national polls to suggest voters are growing skeptical of Occupy Wall Street- and it comes as police have clashed with protesters in several cities.  Previous national polls have shown a plurality of...

Mayor Bloomberg said by Occupy Wall Street protesters not reporting crimes in Zuccotti Park, they were “allowing the criminal to strike again.” Mayor Bloomberg ripped into Occupy Wall Street protesters on Thursday for not reporting crimes at Zuccotti Park - calling their inaction "despicable." Bloomberg said the demonstrators have a practice of surrounding a troublemaker and then evicting them from the park instead of calling the NYPD. "If this is in fact happening - and it's very hard to get good information - it is despicable," the infuriated mayor said. "I think it is outrageous and it really allows the...

VANCOUVER, November 2, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On Sunday morning a break-away faction of the Occupy Vancouver movement tried to occupy the city’s Holy Rosary Cathedral during morning Mass. Several dozen protesters, calling themselves ‘Occupy the Vatican’, were halted when Archbishop Michael Miller requested a police presence, and were stopped again later in the day by police and members of the Knights of Columbus. The incident highlights a trend by some in the anti-corporate protest movement to use it as a launching pad for attacks on Christianity and the Catholic Church in particular. Most infamously, on October 15th, members of the...

I work for a state district court here in Houston, and while I was outside the Harris County Civil Courthouse during my lunch break, I heard voices. I asked a friend of mine where those voices were coming from, and was informed that it was an "#OccupyHouston" protest outside the Criminal Justice Center. Expecting to find a crowd of thousands of angry "concerned youths", I scanned the area around the various courthouses in downtown Houston and spotted a knot of all of 30 protesters carrying signs and chanting such stirring invocations as "We are the 99%!" and other similarly high-minded...

DEMOCRATS are rallying behind the Occupy Wall Street protests. For many liberals, it is the 1960s all over again. Conservatives should kick back and enjoy the show. The Chicago convention riots in 1968 paved the way for the election of Richard Nixon. Occupy is not your father’s Tea Party. Tea Party rallies drew larger crowds with one purpose: To stop bailouts and government spending. People attended the Tea Party rallies, and when it was over, they cleaned up and they went home. I do not recall anyone camping out for weeks on and I do not recall any arrests. Occupy...

In a move that infuriated some Occupy Boston protesters, Boston police on Tuesday arrested an Occupy Boston protester after she allegedly sold $20 worth of prescription drugs to undercover police. Martina “Mama” Martin was taken into custody near the tent that supplies clothes to the protesters, who have been living in a tent city in Dewey Square since last month. In a report, police said they had seen an increase in illegal drug activity in the downtown area, which they attributed to the arrival of the Occupy Boston encampment. Acting on a tip that a man and woman inside the...
