I work for a state district court here in Houston, and while I was outside the Harris County Civil Courthouse during my lunch break, I heard voices. I asked a friend of mine where those voices were coming from, and was informed that it was an "#OccupyHouston" protest outside the Criminal Justice Center.
Expecting to find a crowd of thousands of angry "concerned youths", I scanned the area around the various courthouses in downtown Houston and spotted a knot of all of 30 protesters carrying signs and chanting such stirring invocations as "We are the 99%!" and other similarly high-minded rhetorical flourishes.
This "crowd" was hardly more substantial than the usual line waiting to get into the courthouse (not to mention the near-daily Black Panther protests), so I almost missed them.
Since I fully expect the number of protesters to magically grow to the hundreds and thousands if and when it is reported in the traditional media, I figured I'd throw out my firsthand account.

By the way, can anyone guess what the ciminal courthouse has to do with Wall Street? I'm at a loss, especially since the regional headquarters of several major banks and the world and North American headquarters of nearly all of Big Oil are only a few blocks away.

Maybe the courthouse has a nicer lawn.

We should stop calling this protest "Occupy Houston".
Obama has been using these to drum up sympathy for his cause, and it's time to make him own them.
Start calling them what they really are:

Isn’t the regional Treasury/FED down on Allen parkway? Ther eis a nice park right across the street, IIRC. They should go there.....you can even skateboard the ramps there in Buffalo Bayou...

Maybe they just know their way to the courthouse.

What’s funny is that Chevron’s Houston offices, which are also in downtown Houston, has a much more spacious sidewalk area, and they’re even in the former Enron buildings. KBR’s headquarters is only two blocks from there. Chase Tower also has a big open area in front of it.
This city is literally the capital of the Evil Empire to these people. You’d think they would have better places to go than a county courthouse.

Isnt the regional Treasury/FED down on Allen parkway? Indeed it is. Right across the street from Memorial Park and the bayou. It's right where they have the 4th of July party every year.

The protest in Tampa has dwindled down to about 8 die hards. It's not even worth walking by and showing my sign of "support".

Where did they find 30 Texans to protest capitalism? We’re the center of the capitalistic universe.
I’ll bet they are paid and from elsewhere.

Not this time. The NBPP are there most every other day, but I haven’t seen Quanell himself there.
