The California Senate Majority Leader Kevin de León has introduced a new bill that would mandate the Golden State get all of its electricity from renewable sources by 2045. This replaces a law that was passed in 2016 that dictated that renewable energy sources be 50% of all electricity produced by 2030. This bill moves that requirement up to 2025 with the 50% edict and establishes the new 100% standard 20 years later. What has not been widely discussed in the press – and buried in the details of the bill – is that all new homes and all homes...

Seems like more Americans are engaging the political process. Politics is involved in every single aspect of your life. You may not be involved in politics, but rest assured, politics is involved in your life. You may live in the Land of Freedom, but you cannot do anything without the directive, tax, fee, regulation or authority of your government. From the moment you woke up this morning lying under those government-approved, fire-resistance sheets to driving your highly regulated car and arrive at your job at a business permitted by the State, everything is touched by your government. You cannot allow...

You knew this was coming. Created in the panic after Sept. 11, and even as Muslim “immigrants” flood into the United States, the Dept. of Homeland Security has nothing better to do than to watch the rest of us: The Department of Homeland Security is seeking bids from companies able to provide law enforcement officials with access to a national license-plate tracking system — a year after canceling a similar solicitation over privacy issues. The reversal comes after officials said they had determined they could address concerns raised by civil liberties advocates and lawmakers about the prospect of the department’s...

Martha Boneta, who was instrumental in passing the two bills now dubbed Boneta Bill-1 and Boneta Bill-2, bought a farm that had a conservation easement which was administered by the Piedmont Environmental Council, a non-governmental organization, and the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, a state government agency. The Piedmont Environmental Council is a conservation group that holds 51 easements on 7,600 acres of land in Virginia. According to Kevin Mooney, when Boneta bought her farm in 2006, “she did not receive either tax breaks or money.”

The America that I love has been changing, but it wasn’t until Feb. 26 that I was struck with the realization that I don’t recognize my country anymore. That was the day three FCC commissioners, without revealing the regulations or taking public comment, decided to take regulatory control of the internet.
  • Five Characters in Search of a Reason for New Orleans's Smoking Ban

New Orleans’s city council has unanimously approved a city-wide smoking ban in all bars and casinos, making it the latest big city to pass such a smoking ban without the courtesy of a popular vote. The ban itself, like the others that came in cities before it, is purported to promote the public welfare. Non-smokers, government officials argue, have the right to have their lungs be unafflicted by dangerous secondhand smoke if they choose to visit or work in any establishment. In the case of New Orleans, teary-eyed city councilman James Gray II read aloud the names of people he...
  • Zoning Laws, Conservation Easements, and the Right to Your Land

I believe so strongly that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) pursue the path to confiscate land from American landowners and farmers under the guise of zoning laws, environmental preservation, and eminent domain that I wrote about Martha’s Plight and her Liberty Farm in my book, “U.N. Agenda 21: Environmental Piracy.”
