SARAJEVO, Oct 10 (Reuters) - A missile fired from a hand-held launcher damaged a mosque in the southern Bosnian town of Mostar on Tuesday just before worshippers were due to gather for a pre-dawn Ramadan meal, officials said. The mosque is in the Jasenica area, a Croat-majority suburb of the town which is split evenly between Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats. Government officials decided that constitutional referendum was unavoidable since they could not perform their duties due to the bureaucratic chaos in the country stemming from the tension among Bosnian Muslims, Serbians and Croatians. There are about 200 ministers, 80 political parties and 14 parliaments in Bosnia, one of the most convoluted political systems in the world. Constitutional referendum in Bosnia-Herzegovina is also a high priority for the European Union (EU). EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn had previously stated that constitutional referendum was a must for Bosnia in the path of EU membership.
