What does a suffering military veteran have to do to force an unresponsive government to change its ways? How about self-immolating in front of his VA clinic? Hello, paper-pushers and desk jockeys? Are you there? Would the heat, the smoke and the smell of burning flesh rouse you in the least? Nope. Apparently, even this horror is not enough to move the inert bureaucrats at the Department of Veterans Affairs -- let alone the indifferent tango dancer-in-chief. While President Obama sashayed in Buenos Aires two weeks ago, proud Navy veteran Charles Richard Ingram III, 51, made his last life's journey....

I realize Obama is quite busy playing fetch with Bo and Sunny. However, I hope he has a few moments to consider turning on the fountain at the WWII Memorial and un-barricading the remaining war memorials on the National Mall. Our veterans of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War are aging. Many of them are severely disabled, because of their heroism. It is immoral and embarrassing that our President would allow amnesty advocates to prance about on the sacred ground where taxpayers erected memorials to honor our veterans, rather than the actual veterans. The National Mall is a...

Politics: The Obama administration's decision to barricade the open-air and otherwise unguarded World War II memorial is just the latest sign that the president will do anything to get his way. Is the public finally getting wise? Anyone who's ever visited Washington, D.C., knows that while the National Mall is technically a federally owned park, it can't be closed. There are no fences around its 309 acres. No entrances. No guard posts. Just wide open spaces dotted with monuments and museums. There's the Washington Monument, which requires a guide to get to the top. But that's closed for repairs. So...
  • Obama admin. knew about WWII veterans’ request and rejected it

The White House and the Department of the Interior rejected a request from Rep. Steven Palazzo’s office to have World War II veterans visit the World War II memorial in Washington, the Mississippi Republican told The Daily Caller Tuesday. Palazzo helped the veterans commit an act of civil disobedience against the Park Service Tuesday, when the heroes stormed through barricades around the closed memorial.
  • IRS is targeting the American Legion with new set of guidelines

The Internal Revenue Service is targeting the veterans’ organization the American Legion, and a U.S. senator believes that Lois Lerner — a key figure in the IRS scandal – is to blame. “The IRS now requires American Legion posts to maintain dates of service and character of service records for all members… The penalty for not having the required proof of eligibility is, apparently, $1,000 per day,” the American Legion stated.
