WASHINGTON (AP) —President Barack Obama plans to tell students Wednesday in a back-to-school message that America needs their passion and ideas in these tough economic times. The White House released the text of the president's message early to defuse any potential charges that Obama would give a political speech to the nation's school children. Two years ago, some conservatives accused Obama of bringing politics into the classroom with a similar back-to-school speech. The president plans to tell students they are the country's future and that "whether we fall behind or race ahead in the coming years is up to you."...

Barack Obama's school speech has come and gone. The content of the speech is irrelevant at this juncture, as he has had ample time to revise the content after the barrage of criticism received by parents concerning this speech--there is no legitimate way to know the original content, or if it differs from the final version.

The bottom line is we need the president of the United States of America to use his bully pulpit to talk to kids about the importance of education and to help inspire kids--Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers It has come as quite a surprise to Randi Weingarten, the leftist National Education Association and teachers unions, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and the White House that not all parents are willing to toe the Democratic Party line when it comes to President Barack Obama using his “bully pulpit” to speak to America’s children on Tuesday. In fact, as...

I was at the tea party in Southaven MS yesterday, and a speaker said he will of course speak to his own children about responsibility and staying in school. That made me wonder if the Obama girls will be hearing this speech in thier own classromms this Tuesday? A good father would demand thier children would hear such needed prose! This would be the first question Gibbs would be asked. Will the Obama children hear this?

Republican Gov. Gary Herbert supports President Barack Obama's plan to deliver a televised back-to-school speech to the nation's students on Tuesday, saying he sees "nothing but good coming out of this." Herbert said he favors letting students listen to the speech, and he thinks it will foster a dialogue between parents and their children. "I think it's great. To hear from the president of the United States is an important thing," he said Saturday. "I'd like to hear what he has to say. "I hope parents will take the opportunity to discuss the issues with their children, hear what the...

Here is video of CNN's Roland Martin last night calling parents "insane," and "crazy," who are concerned about President Obama's national address to school children next Tuesday, September 8. He was talking to CNN's John Roberts when he made the comments. Like so many, concerned parents and conservatives are being villified for opposing Obama's address as if he wanted to do nothing different than previous Presidents in addressing school children. Expect to see this kind of diatribe next week as Obama gives his speech, which undoubtedly will be very plain and harmless after all this controversy. What Martin and others...
