The New York Times has reported that nearly 100 current members of Congress have bought or sold stocks related to their work in office. One of those identified is Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, who sits on the U.S. House Ethics Committee and the Financial Services Committee. The Times found that he has reported trades in 276 companies and has 34 possible conflicts of interest — one of the highest tallies among the 97 members of Congress listed. Phillips’ trading chiefly involved stocks and bonds “issued by more than two dozen banking companies,” according to the Times. Phillips, a Democrat,...

On a 150-year-old farm in Brewster, Tom Behrends hopes his tell-it-like-it-is style will finally get the attention he believes it deserves in Minnesota’s race for governor. “The public needs to know how pathetic his leadership was as a National Guardsman,” Behrends said about Gov. Tim Walz. He’s back again to wage a public war of words against Walz. This is what his grain bin looked like in the 2018 election: “He abandoned us. What the hell kind of leader does that? As soon as the shots were fired in Iraq, he turned and ran the other way and hung his...

Last week, Tucker Carlson showcased the fact that the GOP is doing its best to lose November’s election. He included a clip of Mitch McConnell admitting that the GOP would likely not take the Senate. McConnell and the rest of the leadership don’t want to win. Carlson rightly suggested that, if Republicans really wanted to win, they’d run on crime and immigration. While the economy is reportedly voters’ number one issue, it’s what goes on in their neighborhoods and on their streets that matters. If Americans don’t feel safe in their homes, walking down their streets, or sitting in drive-thru...

The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus & Political Action Committee on Wednesday announced it won't be endorsing a candidate for Minnesota Governor in the 2022 general election. The caucus invariably supports a broad spectrum of Republicans who oppose any gun restrictions, but in a statement, caucus chairman Bryan Strawser said GOP candidate Scott Jensen "betrayed" his 2016 endorsement for the Minnesota Senate by co-sponsoring gun control measures after he was elected. “Voters will have to decide whether or not to trust Dr. Jensen with their Second Amendment rights, ” Strawser said. In 2018 Jensen, fellow Republican Paul Anderson, and two Democratic...

Mr (president) Trump hasn't seen such outpouring of support from senior Republicans in a long time, and the incident looked set to light a new political touch paper that could propel him to the party's presiential noimination in 2024. The former US President is now, in the eyes of many Republicans who were shying away from him, the victim of an egregious attempt by a democrat administration to politicize the justice system. As one former Republican official put it, if Mr Trump is now now convicted of a crime, then "you have martyred him and guaranteed him the Republican nomination.

Gov. Tim Walz was whisked away by staff after a voter confronted him Wednesday about his handling of the George Floyd riots. “Why would you let a police station burn to the ground and not send in the troops?” a man asked Walz during the annual Farmfest gathering in southern Minnesota, according to a video captured by independent photojournalist Rebecca Brannon. Walz briefly began to answer the question but was cut off by a staff member who said “we’ve got some folks waiting for us … we should get up there.” The governor then took a picture with a supporter...

I’ve been too busy to keep up with local politics lately. Yeah, I know. I welcome your advice on the upcoming primary. I would really appreciate some thoughtful criticism of the particular candidates. Thanks! -Jeff

Former President Trump’s top allies are preparing to radically reshape the federal government if he is re-elected, purging potentially thousands of civil servants and filling career posts with loyalists to him and his "America First” ideology, people involved in the discussions tell Axios. The impact could go well beyond typical conservative targets such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Internal Revenue Service. Trump allies are working on plans that would potentially strip layers at the Justice Department — including the FBI, and reaching into national security, intelligence, the State Department and the Pentagon, sources close to the former president...

The National Rifle Association on Monday issued a stinging rebuke of former President Donald Trump’s pick for Wisconsin governor, accusing him of misleading its members after his campaign falsely claimed the gun advocacy group had endorsed him. Construction company co-owner Tim Michels is locked in a three-way GOP primary with former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and state Rep. Tim Ramthun. Michels won Trump’s endorsement in June. An endorsement from the NRA would have marked another huge win for him heading into the Aug. 9 election. Michels’ campaign sent out a flyer that landed in mailboxes Saturday that claimed the NRA...

Interesting observations on Today's Trump Rally 1- Overwhelming number of comment posteds on live streaming site are anti-OZ 2. When Oz spoke on stage, the people in the Gallery with Oz signs all cheered, but when the camera backed away for a few seconds to show the backs of the audience in from of the stage.. there was almost NO REACTION. Seems like they selected and gave signs to those behind the podium with a specific intent... one not shared very much by the larger audience. It will be interesting to see what happens on primary night on the 27th......

Alpha News recently sat down with Minnesota Rep. Jeremy Munson to discuss his ongoing congressional bid. Munson outlined a variety of objectives that primarily centered around establishing America-first economic policies, securing future elections and making sure farmers in Minnesota’s First Congressional District are not hampered by unnecessary regulations amid an impending food shortage. He also expressed his support for ending COVID-19 regulations and holding Dr. Anthony Fauci accountable for his role in the pandemic response. “He needs to be held accountable for lying to the American public,” Munson said. “He needs to go away. He needs to be held accountable...

Points address everything from 'education and immigration to religious liberty and foreign policy' ... Kt was his ambitious “11-Point Plan to Save America,” which includes more than 120 bullet points addressing everything from education and immigration to religious liberty and foreign policy. “The American people are going to deliver a complete butt-kicking to the Democrats this November,” he told a packed auditorium. “But after we win, then what?”

Miss the days when a White House press secretary would take press questions directly instead of “circling back?” Well, at least directness in the White House press briefing room can lead to other opportunities, as Sarah Huckabee Sanders is finding out. According to Arkansas-centric Talk Business and Politics, Sanders — who’s running for governor of the Razorback State — took in over $1.6 million in the fourth quarter, far more than any of her competitors. Sanders was a fixture as former President Donald Trump’s press secretary between 2017 and 2019, where she did battle against the mainstream media. (She’ll likely...

I am running for Republican Precinct Chairman for Precinct 13 in Gillespie County, Texas, so I thought I’d write a little bio that is relevant to that objective. Summary of qualities for the position: --A lifetime history of activism defending life, liberty, and the Constitution; --Involvement in the Republican Party (excepting 1998?) since I was 18; --Proven record of opposing the Republican establishment when that is necessary. I am 57 years old, a Christian, have 8 home-schooled children, have been an activist in conservative and Christian causes since middle school. I’ve been active in the Republican party since I was...

Today at: 'Meet the press.' Fiona Hill added to "fear" if Republicans get control of the House abd the Senate: "To marginalize opposition... totalitarian regimes like Putin ..." The left is admitting that the 2022 midterms may indeed have already been won! Republican redistricting has already given the GOP enough new seats to take control of congress! In this video, we’re going to look at those redistricting efforts, we’re going to see how the left is utterly panicked as a result, and stick with me to the very end of this video when I’ll reveal why pundits believe the Democrats will implode and they won’t recover for the next decade.
