You’re right, but sadly at the end of the day, for people like Barr that will never leave the DC bubble, they’re set. Financially, socially and employment wise, if they need a job. The revolving doors in DC provide a level of security for those in that bubble, that normal folks will never enjoy. Same goes for the Wall St types and the tech people.
If you’re a tech person, unless yours or every other position is outsourced to an H1B-visa recipient, you just thrown down your “Liberal Hipster-I Hate Trump and the Repubicans Card” and you’re hired.
If you’re a “DC Swamp” creature, like Barr, Wolfe, Clinesmith, and so many more, eventually you’ll find work if you need it.
It’s amazing to me how our government has so many advisors for this and that, especially the ‘military affairs/foreign policy types’ and there is no way that any of these people have been anything more than academics bouncing from one liberal position to another. The US needs a military or counterterrorism adviser, I want Jack Bauer, not some Harvard grad who was a law clerk for Ginsburg.
I’m pretty sure he got a Hillary deal on the advance of his book. No portion of the advance returnable regardless of sales. It’s how they roll...
