Bad news for retro-TV fans: Hulu is getting ready to part ways with roughly a dozen classic and cult titles over the next two weeks, including Arrested Development, The Bob Newhart Show, Beverly Hills 90210, Hill Street Blues, and Ally McBeal. The Disney-owned platform began posting expiration notices on the shows earlier this week, but sometimes those get applied in error. (Indeed, Hulu briefly put one on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and St. Elsewhere, but those turned out to be false alarms.) But Buffering checked in with Hulu PR, which confirmed that indeed all of the aforementioned shows will...

The cause of death was cancer after a two-year battle. "He was a wonderful, wonderful, extraordinary actor," she said. "It's heartbreaking."

  • Joe Soptic: Separated At Birth???

Is it just me or is Joe Soptic a dead ringer for Bob Newhart? A real live, separated-at-birth twin of the famous stoic comedian? I leave it to the pundits to determine the veracity of Joe Soptic’s claim that Mitt Romney killed his (first) wife by heartlessly offering him a buy out from his job as a steelworker – that he refused – before closing the steel mill that Bain bought in 1993 and operated for 8 years before it succumbed to the harsh economic realities of high labor costs (not helped by the 10 week union strike in 1997)...

Poston was best known for playing George Utley on "Newhart" and his guest appearances on "The Bob Newhart Show." His Emmy win came in 1959 for his role playing the befuddled Everyman as part of the Allen's stock company along with Don Knotts and Louie Nye. Preview and analysis for Weekend Talk Shows, 9-30 and 10-1-06 It's week four (or 297, depending on how you figure it) of the WOB (war on Bush) and all things "Republi-fascist," as the drive by media might style what they're doing.  We've had a week of spin like we haven't seen since... well, since Clinton was in office.  All the old hateful and hate filled faces were back on the screaming head shows pulling their electrically powered rapid fire mouths back out of storage and plugging them in for one more go around of lies, screaming lies and videotape.  And...

Preview and Analysis of the Weekend Talk Shows for 9/23 & 9/24/06The campaign to trash President Bush and beatify President Clinton gets into high gear this week.  Perhaps now we know why the Clintonistas were so frantic to kill or discredit The Path To 9/11, because it had the possibility of preempting their re-re-re-re-launch of the "Clinton Legacy" (Take 843).  This is a contest between the Bush and Clinton world views.  Bush views the world in terms of western civilization representing humanity's progress up from barbarism.  Clinton views the world in terms of America's sins and how we must be...
