Here’s the old mission statement: “USCIS secures America’s promise as a nation of immigrants by providing accurate and useful information to our customers, granting immigration and citizenship benefits, promoting an awareness and understanding of citizenship, and ensuring the integrity of our immigration system.” And the...

BOSTON (AP) - An immigration hearing for President Barack Obama's African aunt has ended without an immediate decision in her bid for asylum. Kenya native Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUH'-nee awn-YAHN'-goh) testified for about two-and-a-half hours Thursday at the closed proceedings in U.S. Immigration Court. Two doctors also testified in support of the case her lawyer said includes medical reasons to stay in the U.S. Attorneys for Onyango and the government have 30 days to file closing briefs. The hearing could continue on May 25 if the judge does not issue a ruling before then.
