Archaeologists working in a richly decorated house in ancient Pompeii have discovered a stunningly preserved fresco depicting the mythological hunter Narcissus enraptured by his own reflection in a pool of water. The figure of Narcissus, who according to the myth fell in love with his own image to the point that he melted from the fire of passion burning inside him, was a fairly common theme in the first-century Roman city. The discovery, announced on Thursday, is in the atrium of a house where, back in November, excavations brought to light another fresco that portrays an erotic scene from the...
  • It's personal: Obama says GOP hostility to him led to Trump

President Barack Obama says years of knee-jerk GOP hostility toward him has fueled Donald Trump’s rise, arguing Thursday that Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. Trump’s GOP rivals headed into their final debate before next week’s key primaries wondering if it was already too late to stop him from claiming their party’s nomination. Relishing the opportunity to ridicule what he called the GOP “circus,” Obama sought to tie Trump to his primary election opponents by claiming they see eye to eye on the issues — even if the flamboyant billionaire puts on a more provocative act. The president...

The culture war might be likened to fighting a war against a coalition of powers. Imagine WWI-style trench warfare on a long front. In the center of the enemy lines are the forces of moral relativism. These forces oppose the idea that there is a universal moral law. On one flank are the forces of the sexual revolution, including gays, feminists, adulterers, the promiscuous, and the pro-abortion folks. On the other flank are the cultural relativists, and multiculturalists. This camp opposes the ideas of truth, beauty, and intrinsic quality. It seeks to suppress the literary, philosophical, and artistic heritage of...

Yes, everyone. You have heard me correctly. I have come to realize that casual sex with various women is sinful and wrong. It is lustful and lascivious, and I have decided that in my turn towards rightous living, that I must stop 'Hitting It'. Expect no more comments of 'I'd hit it'. Expect no more flirting with cute freeperettes. Expect no more comments about pretty women's pictures. Women have become more than sex objects to me. They are whole and wholesome Children of God, and I have come to the understanding that to treat them as amusement parks is degrading...
  • Who Is The American Narcissus?

If I wasn't going to say who you would've needed only one guess anyway... This piece is based on an article in the latest edition of The Weekly Standard, "American Narcissist" by Jonathan V. Last. It's a rare that an article manages to truly grab me from start to finish.... Why has Barack Obama failed so spectacularly? Is he too dogmatically liberal or too pragmatic? Is he a socialist, or an anticolonialist, or a philosopher-president? Or is it possible that Obama’s failures stem from something simpler: vanity. Politicians as a class are particularly susceptible to mirror-gazing. But Obama’s vanity...

Fox enjoys the rarefied atmosphere and lofty perch of being America’s number one cable TV news outlet, consistently garnering viewer ratings which exceed all their main competitors’ ratings combined. Amidst this laudable list of programming of otherwise perennially pristine political punditry, however, lies a misnomer of ignominy and craven pecuniary pandering; it's on the Bill O’Reilly show. Caution! You are about to enter the ‘No Spin Zone.’” He then sets about spinning so fast that he makes a dreidel look sluggish. I nevertheless must give credit where credit is due. When on occasion the un-spun facts of a matter happen...

I know this is Shocking news, but believe it or not Obama is actually on TV!! This is truly an amazing thing considering that I haven't seen him on TV since 5 minutes ago when he was doing a PSA about smoking crack or some sh*t, I didn't really listen to the guy. Why don't we just make an Obama channel? Then he can just talk and TIVO himself and leave the adults (who actually have real stuff to do) alone. Look at me Mommy! I'm so great! I get a double dessert tonight with ice cream, right Mommy? yaaaaah!
