June 16, 2005: Following in the footsteps of a number other failed insurgent groups, the ultra-radical Peruvian Sendero Luminoso movement has recently begun dabbling in the drug business. Several times recently, Sendero Luminoso forces have attacked Peruvian and international anti-drug personnel.

June 15, 2005: The governments increasing success against rebel and drug gangs has induced more and more of the drug business to move to nearby Peru and Bolivia. The Colombian drug gangs, and the rebel organizations (FARC, ELN, AUC) that evolved into support organizations for them, are also going international. In the last year, drug production fell eleven percent in Colombia, while going up 35 percent in Bolivia and 23 percent in Peru.
