Lucy Worsley, whose BBC TV series focuses on powerless people, says women continue to bear brunt of men’s ragePrejudices that led to witch-hunts hundreds of years ago have not disappeared and women are still on the receiving end of men’s anger, a leading historian has said. Writing in the Radio Times, Lucy Worsley, a historian and author, said: “[Although] we like to think we’re better than the people who hunted witches, witch-hunting still happens in some parts of the world today.” The prejudices that led to witch-hunts in the 16th and 17th centuries continue to exist and women, especially outspoken...

Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called “Ocean’s Deadliest” when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous bard on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said.

The unfortunate development comes against a campaign by some civic organisations that indicate 99 percent of women are survivors of gender based violence in this country. These statistics are however as of 1996. It is however apparent that the situations could have changed as reports on violence against men continue to be highlighted in the Press....

Rummaging through a junk drawer the other day, I ran across a little government pamphlet that says on the back: "This book is valuable. Do not lose it." It is from the United States office of Price Administration and titled, "War Ration Book No. 3." Inside the book are four pages of 48 ration stamps each. Darned if I can remember exactly how these ration stamps were used -- I was just a kid during the Second World War. But, this book has my name on it, so I kept it. No reason. I just did. My childhood wasn't a...
